The best Thai place in the Valley. I swear it. . I seriously thought about NOT doing a review just because I don't want to have to share ChaiYo with anyone else. . Don't let the strip mall vibes throw you off because pretty soon you'll see/understand just how brilliant/perfect it all really actually is. It's affordable, easy, clean, quick, fresh, hot every time & delicious even more often than that. . && let me just say that I do not give out 5 stars lightly. I am a big believer in the lost art of providing great customer service/ practicing great/honest business practices, and ChaiYo doesn't disappoint in any way... which is so rare these days unfortunately. . I don't have a single bad thing to say, truly. . The area where you pay is always clean and tidy. I love that they separate the clean pens from the used pens. The food is always ready and fresh and SO HOT that I don't even have to heat it up when I get home. && I love that the wait times are totally reasonable too atm, so let's try to keep it that way !! (please don't tell your friends. ;) ) š¤ . I get one order of the Pad Num Plink Pow with Chicken - hold the bell peppers - and jasmine rice. (It comes with it) I always order a "1" on the spiciness level since I don't love it spicy. My bf and I are able to split one order into 4 small meals, so you can't actually beat that shiz either. šš . My only complaint is that they aren't open on Wednesdays & I always find myself craving ChaiYo on Wednesdays for some...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSuper honest review. Overall, very flavorful, friendly staff, and a large amount of food, but I think there can be improvements. This may be personal taste, but having street food in Thailand, I have some thoughts. But, take with grain of salt. Would come back here for sure!
First the good A very large amount of food per dish Flavorful pad thai and pad see ew sauce. Loved the taste! Got some charred pad thai noodles, which is great! Friendly staff Noodles were at a good firmness, not overcooked. Well packaged take out
Things to improve on Spice. Asked for medium for both dishes. The Pad Thai was very spicy, even for non-Utah standards whereas the Pad See Ew was mild, so lack of consistency. -Did not get charred noodles on Pad See Ew, which is very common in American Thai restaurants. It's very hard to find a proper Pad See Ew here in the states, but since they managed to get a little char on the Pad Thai noodles, they have proper technique and this could be an area to improve on. I don't think they used fresh rice noodles. Using fresh noodles elevates a Pad See Ew dish. I am forever on a quest to find fresh wide rice noodles and a proper char on noodles in SLC area Thai restaurants. They previously cooked egg and threw it on top of Pad Thai, which is unfortunate. As a result, the egg was not incorporated...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHands down the best Thai food I've had in Salt Lake. ChaiYo Thai Togo is in a funky spot off of Highland Dive (you have to go down a flight of stairs to get to the place) and definitely a hidden gem. My party had a little of everything: Pad Gar Pow, Red Curry, and Pad See Ew noodles and we were all beyond satisfied with our meals. We all had medium spice and it was perfect. Not too hot and not too mild. We all had slightly runny noses at the conclusion of our meal. The Pad Gar Pow was flavorful and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. The Pad See Ew noodles were delicious and the sauce was wonderful. They are very prompt. When you place the order they will give you a pickup time and it will be ready then. This place does not have any seating and it is takeout only. Prices are reasonable and I promise you will not be disappointed if you give this place a chance. We'll be...
