Unfortunately I can't give infinite negative stars as 1 is the lowest it accepts. I placed an online order, paid with my debit card. Waited the 30 minutes for the pickup time, but on arrival my order had not even been started. They said the printer was acting up so they didn't see my order come through. They offered me a seat and an additional 20 minute wait. After a few minutes they informed me they didn't have the necessary ingredients to do my order and that I could order something different. I told them to cancel everything and now I get to wait 3-5 days to get my money returned to my card. The only thing that was offered was more wait time and an insincere obligatory "sorry for the inconvenience". The manager's number was offered but they weren't in at the time. I will be calling tomorrow to tell the manager what happened. By the time I was told they couldn't make the 2 entrees, it was too late to get anything but fast food. The online ordering system isn't the best/easiest to use when placing an order. The menu you must place the order with doesn't even list what is in or with each dish. Had to pull up another tab to review that since my friend's a pescatarian and needs to know what is in each dish. Overall terrible first (and only) experience with this eatery. Online ordering isn't streamlined, their equipment doesn't work (no ticket printed for the food) and the staff was rude and completely without training on how to own up for their mistakes, then since the order had to be cancelled, instead of offering a cash refund I now need to wait. Just incompetent and unconcerned with the customer experience.
Update: 3-29-19 Called the manager to tell him about my problem the previous night and surprise he was again unavailable. Will try again on Monday 4-1-19 as I was now informed he is only available Mon - Fri from 7 - 3 which is when I'm at work and not supposed to do personal stuff. So now they will take over my break at work.
Update: 3-30-19 Instead of reversing the charge on my debit card they processed the charge. Now I have to fight to get the return of my NON EXISTENT purchase! So the waiting game isn't over. I never expected a $60 meal would use up so much of my time and energy. Especially when I DIDN'T EVEN GET THE MEAL! Great business practice, hold your money HOSTAGE FOR SERVICES NOT RENDERED.
Update: 4-1-19 Finally spoke with the General Manager who has such a think accent and broken English he is extremely difficult to understand. He told me the online ordering is done through a third party NOT through the restaurant itself. So now I have to wait for them to be contacted to return my money before the restaurant can return the money. PATHETIC BUSINESS PRACTICES!!!
4-1-19 I gave up on the restaurant resolving this, so I called the corporate office in California. They took my complaint and then THEY referred me to a third party for my refund!! WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH THIS BUSINESS!!! Even the corporate office can't own up after mistakes. Corporate or CORRUPT, I don't know anymore!! I am honestly starting to believe they MAKE it near impossible to get a refund so people give up and kiss their money good bye. 100% profit with no cost to them!
4-4-19 Well it's now been a full week since my unfortunate misjudged decision to go to Marie Callender's, and I'm NOT AT ALL SURPRISED to report that I still have NOT been refunded for the purchase I never received. Also no one has reached out to follow up even though they have my phone number and email address. JUST GO OUT OF BUSINESS AND STOP RIPPING PEOPLE OFF!!! MOST PEOPLE WORK HARD FOR THEIR MONEY AND DON'T NEED TO BE EXPLOITED BY SO CALLED BUSINESSES LIKE YOU!!! I guess my next step is the Better Business Bureau, Then Gephardt.
Update: 4-13-19 The refund finally came through. I don't understand why it took over 2 weeks to finally get it, when it should have been taken care of immediately. STILL NO FOLLOW UP FROM ANYONE!! I will NEVER return here even if I was being forced at gunpoint. NO CUSTOMER CARE WHAT SO EVER!! NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN...
Read moreA group of us went to the Salt Lake location yesterday evening. There wasn't anyone to seat us when we arrived so we waited for a few minutes until someone showed up. After we were seated the waitress didn't show up for a few minutes. When she did she brought out cornbread. Unfortunately, we had no silverware or napkins and she didn't show up again for a few minutes. She eventually came back with waters. She left to grab utensils then came back to take our order. We let her know we were there for pie & asked what pie she could recommend and she just said, "I don't like pie". We ordered a few different slices (we were a group of 6). We also ordered some items to go. She told us it may take a while to get our food because she was going to have to round up all these pies. She wasn't kidding, it took a while. Eventually she brought out some of our slices. At $5 per slice, they were a very disappointing size small. She left again then came back to say she couldn't find the strawberry pie and she could bring a strawberry rhubarb. My toddler had one bite & that was it. When we were ready to go we were told to pay up front. We had to wait over 10 min. to pay because they were having some problem at the register. The waitress kept coming up and apologizing for the wait. The manager just kept his head down and ignored us. One of the people in our party let them know about our disappointment in the portion size of the pie and the boy at the register offered him a piece of pie on the spot. Overall, the pie tasted good but, the size was smaller then you would expect for the $5 price tag. Our WHOLE pie to go was $9. The service was poor and we won't be dining there again. If you want pie from Marie Calendar's don't dine in. Purchase a whole pie to go and you'll probably...
Read moreThe young lady working yesterday acted more like a bouncer, never smiled once, and was very play-by-the-book and strict when my friend and I explained that we forgot we could get a second pie for $4.99.
She acted like it was our fault for not bringing it up or knowing about it to begin with. The other employees even told her that she should've offered us a second pie, "Would you like to add another for $4.99?" similar procedures that Mrs.Fields and other restaurants use. They were very apologetic and congenial unlike this particular employee.
We decided to just return the first pie and get a refund. The ornery young lady said she won't do either because it's too much work and she doesn't want to bother the manager.
We finally got the manager who was also apologetic and said that there's absolutely no reason why she couldn't have rung up a separate transaction for $4.99.
My friend and I were relieved but still shocked that one employee was rude and avoiding extra work. I explained to the manager at any of my previous customer service jobs that employees can get put on a final written warning if they take easy way outs, act negative and condescending, and also act like they are the manager.
Don't be afraid to speak up and escalate if anyone does business here. I hope they re-train this young woman and promote the other employees who are positive, helpful, and treat customers with respect. If this young woman doesn't improve, then she needs to work in the kitchen or somewhere that doesn't require...
