I came in today around 4 pm on 08/14/2025 Very easy to find Its in a shopping plaza next to other restaurants and shops. I came in there was just one other table that was there. Place is very clean, very nicely decorated. Staff is super nice, each and everyone greeted me, I came in to try this place out by myself. Even though I am not Peruvian, Peruvian food is my favorite food out of all. Nothing compares to their impeccable gastronomy. I have been searching, and always trying out new Peruvian restaurants any different state or location where I am around.
Anywho, i was greeted right away, they are jamming out to Salsa music which was a great sign right away. The nice waitress sat me down, and right away asked me what I would like to drink and gave me the menu.
I was undecided between the Jalea and the chicharron de pescado, well I went with the chicharron de pescado. Now mind you, the price looks pretty up there for one plate, but keep in mind:
Its made to order HUGE portions Preparation time It’s latino soul food made with a lot of passion.
I ordered:
Chicharron de pescado, it came with Salsa criolla (pickled red onions) yuca slices, plantains, cancha, limes tartar sauce.
I also ordered arroz verde (cilantro/spinach rice) depends on the region of Peru they are from. However, it is my favorite rice of all! Sooo sooo good and bursting with flavor.
Also ordered a side of huancaina sauce (just order it) you will thank me later.
They brought it out with red and green aji (salsa) however I rather have Peruvian aji vs any other spicy sauce.
Took about 15 minutes to get my order, and when it arrived the portions were HUGE. Presentation was 10000%, my order was done correctly nothing was overcooked it was made perfect.
I got full really quick but moreso I was taken back by the amount of food, and the presentation. Every bite was as good as the first one! With tip I paid for $42 dollars and took 90% of my food to go.
I took it to my family and the three of them liked it a lot that I plan on going back with them.
Rubis is NOW my favorite Peruvian restaurant! Wow, great job Rubi staff and continue to cook with soul!
They do have daily lunch specials make sure you follow them on social media for updates. Just a heads up they do not sell pollo a la brasa but trust me, you have sooo many other choices off their menu. Just writing this review its making me hungry again, I want to go back!
This is now my favorite Peruvian restaurant in the state of Utah! Reminded me of the food I ate while I traveled to Peru. If you are reading this review, thank you for making it this far.
Oh they also have a vegetarian menu! They have something for even the pickiest eater. Also coke products and fresh natural juices. They also have dessert
Do yourself a favor and go check it out! You will be...

I had been wanting to try this place for several months after seeing a picture of the pescado en salsa de mariscos. The orange creamy sauce looked divine. Any time I thought of visiting, I dreamed of the taste of that sauce!
EDIT: The owners responded with updated hours and are now staying open later, awesome! Visiting proved difficult, however! The hours here are weird. Closing at 5PM seems super odd. Too early for dinner and too late for lunch. I'm not really certain of their business model there.
The restaurant is located in a strip mall storefront and is quite unassuming. We went shortly after opening and the place reeked of cleaning solution. Thankfully that smell dissipated. The space is well-appointed with cool Peruvian art and images on the walls. The staff were nice, the prices were fair, and the food came out fast.
We tried the passion fruit juice and it was delicious. They served a side of corn kernels which I must admit I did not like. I'll eat anything but I guess I just didn't get it. The hot sauce they served was excellent but I didn't use it on my food based on what I ordered.
We ordered the aforementioned dish, a fish fillet topped with creamy sauce and other seafood with a side of rice. We also ordered the pasta en salsa de mariscos. That was a very similar dish with pasta in place of the fish fillet. Both were excellent, though I should have ordered two options which were more different. The sauce was everything I hoped and dreamed...
Read moreThere is no Peruvian taste at Rubi's.
We were looking forward to having lunch at Rubi's . My niece had never had Peruvian food before and I was looking forward to introducing her to a new cuisine .
What a mistake. I should have know something was wrong when they did not have any Cola Inglesa.
We started with the Papa a la Huancaína. The sauce was very bland with little flavor . I asked for some Aji and that helped with some spice but there was no other flavor.
The Yucca Frita was perfectly cooked and was great with the tiny portion of Salsa Criolla.
We had to ask for individual small plates to share the dishes among the three of us .
The Ceviche Mixto was was a major disappointment . I asked for it to be medium picante and there was no hint of any spice or flavor.
I don't know how one can make a bland tasting ceviche but Rubi's did it. The ceviche was strange with no real lemon flavor or any real real ceviche flavor.
I took a spoonful of the leche del tigre and it was very watery.
Next up was the Lomo Saltado. The flavor was good but there was very little juice to enjoy with the rice and potatoes. I've had larger appetizers.
The portions as , pictured below, are very small by any real Peruvian standard.
There were some Peruvians dining and I wonder if they get a different menu than Gringos.
My bona fides in knowing Peruvian food is living in Peru for six and half years from 1992-1998.
The three of us should not have left the restaurant...
