FINALLY made it in to V & R this morning. To say I’m picky about baked goods is putting it mildly. Walking in to the store, I was taken back by how everything looked. Beautiful baked items, but wonder how they taste. You’ve all eaten baked goods that look fantastic but taste like the plastic fruit that populated bowls at your grandma’s house. Just me, huh? Whatever. Point is, would these lovely baked delights taste as good as they look. The delightful young lady packed up a raspberry danish, chocolate croissant, almond croissant, and Beast croissant (egg, bacon, cheese, tomato, and jalapeño stuffed) for us and off we went.

I couldn’t wait until I got home, so I ripped a hunk of almond croissant off and popped it into my mouth. Ya’ll, I nearly burst into tears! Crisp and flaky, yet tender inside. The marzipan wasn’t sickeningly sweet like many almond croissants are. Not overly dusted with powdered sugar, either. Perfect amount of sliced almonds sprinkled on the outside. Pure HEAVEN. Rushed home to sample the rest.

When we got home, I went in for a nibble of the chocolate croissant, but my son wolfed that thing down in seconds. “It’s really good.” Gulp. Might have to run up for an afternoon snack without my traitorous son…

The cute young lady that helped us advised to warm up the Beast croissant in a 250 degree for 10 minutes. “Poke a whole in it so it warms through.” Got home and followed her instructions to the letter. O M G! Perfectly crisp. Warmed all the way through. And the flavors… Goodness ME! When I tell it was good, I mean it was GOOD. Absolutely delicious.

Do yourself a favor and make your way to this bakery and treat yourself to something delicious. And I’ll go ahead and say it: those croissants are BETTER than Gourmandise!! I said...

I bought one of the apple strudels earlier this year around the time they opened and I have been craving it since. I wanted to buy one today and they were sold out so I got a pumpkin danish.

The pumpkin danish is mostly a rich bread that is similar in flavor to the store bought dough in the popping tins, but a bit more balanced, and I appreciated that because I don’t like things so rich. It’s mostly a cream cheese frosting, and some thick granulated sugar on the top. I was pleased with the flavors of these two, but I hardly tasted pumpkin. I smelled the pumpkin and it smelled kind of browned, like when you have browning apples after they’ve been cut but I tasted it with my finger and the swirl of pumpkin on there was good.

I loved the apple strudel though. It was filled with an apple pie like filling but it seemed there was minced apples rather then slices like in a pie, and the strudel is a bread, much like with the danish I got today and it was super good, first time trying...

Not friendly AT ALL. Not much to buy. All around TERRIBLE experience going here. Don't waste your time!

  • ATTN OWNER * you're correct my husband and I weren't in there very long because after we got treated like we weren't welcome, and were given major attitude by the girl behind the counter, there was no way in hell we were going to stay and look around longer or spend a cent at your bakery. Maybe you should hire people who know how to be nice and how to smile. Rather than people who stand at the counter and act bothered when a customer walks in. Customer service is EVERYTHING and I'll gladly take my business where I'm treated right! As the owner, you'd think customer service would be one of your top priorities as well as genuinely apologizing and offering to make it right. THAT would've been the correct way to respond. Remember, your employees are a reflection of YOU and how you run your business. Your reaction only validates how we were already feeling....

Ordered Mille Fueille, was told I could only order half sheet. So I did. Asked if the puff pastry could be thin layers. Was told ok. Went back to pick up the order a week later, I did not get what is known as Mille fueille in France. I asked why was it not cut into pieces. She stayed with an attitude that, I should have asked for this. She knew it was my first time in her bakery why was I not offered this and what sizes. Still at this point I did not have an attitude or nothing but if o had not prepaid for this I would have left I there. The taste was not good as well. Never again will I go to this bakery. The break I ordered was also old. When I cut into it Asiago loaf it crumbled and was very dry. Would never recommend this place to anyone. Owners need to learn customer services and how to bake French pastries, I lived in France(Paris) for years before returning to America and I miss French pastries and breads this place is not it.

We have been dying to come to this establishment ever since it opened near our home, and today was finally the day. Boy was it worth it!! It smelled amazing walking in and was so hard to pick what to get because everything looked phenomenal! It has a very clean and appealing atmosphere and presentation. The prices are great for the quantity/quality of what you receive as well. We ended up going with the huge cinnamon roll, delectable sausage-egg-and-cheese croissant, and beautiful key lime tart. Definitely did happy dances while eating these... We were 1000% pleased with our choices and will definitely be returning!
