Blue Ox Saloon — Restaurant in Millinocket

As far as the atmosphere goes, this is one of the best bars I have ever been in. The bartenders are nice, fun people, and it is worth it to strike up a conversation. The outside patio is nice, especially in the winter when there is a fire roaring. It never gets very crowded, mainly because there just are not enough people in the area for a bar like this. I assume the 4 or 5 regulars keep this place alive when it isn't summer, snowmobiling or hunting season. The drinks are reasonable, and there is a decent selection of beers. The bar owner was super nice. There was no food available at the time of our visit, however, he had take out menus from a couple of local restaurants that delivered and gladly let us have the food brought to us. In addition, he had a great outdoor space, and since it was a chilly evening. He started a fire and made sure it stayed going to keep us comfortable. This Saloon is a mini museum of all things Maine, a must visit if your from out of town!!! I had my first Maine milkshake ( milk and coffee liqueur) it was delicious 😋 I also ordered food to be delivered from Katadin Gen.
