Our family returns to Rehoboth Beach each year and one of the places I always get my coffee and breakfast sandwiches from is Kaiseyās.
This time around I opted to try their other foods and was looking forward to the Goulash and Chicken Paprikash. I really wanted both of these to be good.
The Goulash was quite nice with a flavorful broth and decent size pieces of meat and vegetable. The Goulash was reheated in a microwave though and could have been hotter. Iām hoping it was made fresh that day, but I had no way to tell given the reheating process. The sealed packet of Oyster crackers served with the Goulash had gone completely rancid and smelled like paint (that is exactly how my daughter and I both thought of it). I surmise they have a large box of them and have not checked quality or the expiration date in a long while.
The Chicken Paprikash was not very flavorful and the portion was small for the amount of money charged. The egg noodles used appeared to be just standard packaged/dried, then pre-cooked, stored in a refrigerated container, and then reheated again in the microwave. The chicken was freshly cooked, but luke warm when it came out in the dish. Again, everything went into the microwave for reheating at the end when the pre-made sauce was added before it arrived to me. This restaurant relies entirely on the microwave too often for preparation and completion of these specific items.
My daughter also had the chicken ceasar salad. For the price, the portion was quite small. In general the lettuce and dressing were fine, but overall the dish lacked any sort of defining flavor. Before anyone says āitās just a ceasar saladā, there are a number of similar places at the beach serving ceasar salad with grilled chicken at lower prices that are quite more flavorable and of larger volume.
The staff is always pleasant to us and friendly though, which is nice. Their coffee drinks and breakfast sandwhiches continue to be quite good and I will keep returning for those items.
4 stars for staff, 2 stars for the Goulash, Paprikash, and Caesar Salad. 4 stars for coffee drinks and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI HIGHLY recommend Kaisy's Delights!
About 3 or 4 years ago, I went to their old location on the beach, and it was phenomenal. I got an iced coffee and their kaiserschmarrn (the sweetie with strawberry compote and fresh whipped cream), and have been dreaming of that delicious combo ever since. I couldn't think of the name, so I turned to Google for some detective work, and I found it! Kaisy's Delights is the place! I am SO happy I found it! I loved the atmosphere at the old place, but this was somehow even better. Gorgeous wooden floors, fresh linens and flowers on every table, and the kicker? It's in an old bank! There's an old bank vault that they kept as soon as you walk in. I'll tell you a bit more about this later.
We went for breakfast this morning and were greeted by the sweetest server, Julia. We started with a vanilla latte, a chai latte, pierogies, and the same kaiserschmarrn I got years ago. Then we got omelets, and were able to sub latkes instead of their potatoes, and everything was stellar. I do have a minor regret, though - I wish my husband had gotten one side while I got the other side, but we will definitely try the potatoes next time.
As we were about to head out, I recognized from previously the owner who had just come in and asked him what was in the old bank vault because I didn't want to just barge in, even though the door was open. He was so excited to show me! It's a mini museum that serves as a history of himself, his family, and their expansive menu. It's definitely a one-of-a-kind place with such a welcoming and beautiful atmosphere.
I'm wondering what it would take to convince them to deliver their delicious foods to me 2 hours away each day. š¤š
I will be back every single time we head to and from the beach, and recommend that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpdate post-owner response: Wow. I know my experiences are two blips among MANY. Further, given the location is in business, the experience must be at least acceptable if not good for most (but I suppose itās hard to say as itās now apparent they curate their websiteās visible reviews). But our experience is still real. Thus, I would think an owner would be interested in what their team missed the boat on, even if uncommon, or how there could be tweaks to improve across even the good experiences out there. Yet, based on the ownerās reply that simply copied and pasted other recent positive experiences to my post without any āsorry we got it wrong; please try us againā speaks VOLUMES about the owner/managementās view of the customer and their business philosophy. Definitely crossing this off our franchising list.
Original: Have tried this place twice while in town, but have had awful experiences each time with food and service. Itās a shame because the place has a great atmosphere and so much potential. The recent drive through was a simple iced mocha. It came as straight coffee and creamānot even sweetened. Returned to go inside to have remedied and the remedy was also not an iced mochaāalthough its coloring was closer to what should be expected than the original. At that point we gave up. Weāre far from coffee snobs, but the item was not even close to an acceptable delivery. No real concern from any employee on getting it right or apologies for getting it wrong--in fact, they seemed bothered to take our order in the first place. Husband said the owners would be well served to hire the DQ kids from down the road who run a good operation with...
