First time trying this place and definitely the last. I have never felt so ripped off before ordering Chinese food in my entire life. The reviews online say there is large portions so either I'm getting punked or people are used to eating just a spoon full of everything. I ordered for three people and got one regular size to go box (little white paper box) of each item.... For 3 people.... There was literally not even enough soup to fill up one bowl. No condiments, no fortune cookies, order instructions not followed, & no service with a smile. When I ordered over the phone, person was very short with me after explaining I haven't ordered here before (that should have been my first cue). I have tasted the food and it's absolutely mediocre and disgusting... The lo mein tastes burnt, completely flavorless and bland. It cost $80 but I still had to go to Panda Express so that there was ACTUALLY enough food for three people. I did this because I did not feel like fighting with them since we've seen online that they apparently call the cops on people for complaining. It's really sad that Golden Village is shut down because you get double the amount of food and way better quality for the same price. With this quality you might as well go to the Modern in Walla Walla because you're going to get double the amount of food for about half the cost.
Pictures included show size comparison of Panda Express small next to what red tea garden gives you for rice and lo mein, for three people... Picture of soup that's for three people with fortune cookie to give you size reference. And finally a picture of what you get for 80...
Read moreThis was undeniably the most unsatisfactory dinning experience in terms of food quality, presentation, service, cost that my family and I have experienced in a very long time. First off we were mainly the only customers at this time, our waitress brought silverware and napkins to the table & plopped them down in a pile for us to distribute amongst ourselves, several of the forks were dirty, we had some questions in regards to menu items her answers were i really don’t know-which is fine but, maybe follow up with let me find that out for you. We ask for drinking straws, she brings over a plastic bucket with opened straws in this bucket for customers to just reach into to grab themselves a straw! Makes me question whether Oregon has Heath Inspectors to check up on food service? From what I experienced I would venture a guess NO. Next when the waitress is standing at our table taking our orders she is sweating so heavily she grabs her t-shirt neck pulls it up to wipe off her face! When we were finished with our soups she looks over at us and tells us we can set our bowls on the table that is across from us! The food itself was very oily tasting, no flavor, one of the dishes ordered had shrimp in it, the cook apparently forgot to put it in the dish. You don’t mind paying a little more money for your food but, I personally do mind it when the food is not very good and the service is horrible. I would not be at all comfortable recommending Red Tea Garden to anyone. Nor will I be taking my family back again. Extremely...
Read moreHave been driving by this place for years but just last Tuesday decided to drop in for dinner. I chose that particular Tuesday because the parking lot was half-way empty...and I've seen it full so many times, I figured it was a good day to try them out since there were fewer customers than normal.
Went into the lounge section where the video game machines are and ordered cashew chicken with sticky rice, a cup of soup, and a beer. Asked for heat level 4.
They served me around 5 lbs of food! First came the cup of egg drop soup. Delicious. Hot. Then came the dinner. Excellent flavor, fresh veggies, good tasting chicken, all cooked perfectly. Hot. Wasn't much juice so I added some soy sauce from the bottle right there on the table (the tables all had signs 'for food orders only' or similar, dunno why). There was a volunteer shrimp or two mixed in on the plate so if you are allergic to seafood, be sure to check.
There wasn't much spicy heat, so asked and received a small bowl of red hot sauce...also very good.
Ate my fill, and I'm not a small guy, took the rest home and had it for dinner the next night, AND the night after. Both times I filled the plate to heaping before popping it in the MW.
Not sure people would get that much food when they are busy, but wow, I had enough for 3 dinners! And the veggies were so fresh originally that they stayed crispy and tasty for 3 days.
Plenty of cashews, and chicken. Only missed having water chestnuts.
Over all, well worth the $22 paid...
