If I could give no stars, I would.
About two weeks after this place opened I had heard very good things so my fiance and I decided to try it out.. we went in, placed our order and took a seat outside. We both understand things get busy and we were happy with a 30-45 minute wait time. Well, very quickly that 30-45 minutes turned into an hour and a half later before we got any food. At that point it was dark outside and we decided to take our food to go. Upon getting our order we wanted to check and make sure everything was there before we left. And while our whole order was there, all of our food was cold like it had been sitting. We spoke with management who apologized and offered to give us a free meal next time we returned to correct the problem. We said no thank you we just want to make sure your business succeeds and to let you know what needs fixing, communication goes a long way.
Fast forward to today, we placed an online order and upon check out it said our food would be ready in 25 minutes. We arrived at the restaurant right at the time it said the food was supposed to be ready. I entered the restaurant and told them I was there for a pick up order. They asked for the name on the order, which I gave them and they told me they would check on it for me. I was then informed it would be another 15 minutes, to which I thanked them and went out to wait in my car. Upon returning 15 minutes later I was again told that my order would be checked on by two separate people who never bothered to come back and tell me what was going on, or if it was ready. I went up to the counter and kindly asked a third person, (which I was later informed was the manager) what was going on with my order. She stated that she would go check on it and I needed to sit down. At this point it has been 50 minutes since the order was initially placed. I politely asked that if my order was not ready that I would just like a refund so that I could take my business elsewhere. She rudely snapped back and told me I had to take care of the refund online myself, even though I placed it directly through their website, not an online vendor. Needless to say, that if you want to waste your time and money this is the place to go.
After arguing with her the owner magically brought out the order from the back, that was AGAIN not only cold, but missing half the order.
Respectfully, I will never be returning and advising anyone who asks of my...
Read moreI recently dined at Big Daddy's BBQ & Soul Food, a local BBQ joint that left me with conflicting feelings. Let's dive into the details.
The ambiance was cozy and had that unmistakable aroma of smoky goodness, setting the stage for a promising BBQ experience. The menu offered a decent variety of meats, sides, and sauces, catering to different preferences. The staff was friendly and attentive, adding a positive touch to the overall dining experience.
Now, onto the star of the show—the barbecue. The meats were cooked well, with a nice smoky flavor permeating through each bite. The brisket was tender, and the ribs had a delightful caramelized glaze. However, the standout factor was inconsistent execution. While some portions were heavenly, others seemed to have missed the mark, lacking the desired tenderness and flavor infusion.
The sides were a bit hit or miss. The mac and cheese were a definite hit, boasting a creamy texture and cheesy goodness. On the flip side, the coleslaw lacked the vibrancy I expected, and the baked beans were a tad too sweet for my taste.
The pricing was reasonable, considering the portions served, but it felt like a gamble given the inconsistency in food quality. The wait times were manageable during my visit, but I've heard mixed reviews from others regarding long waits during peak hours.
In conclusion, Big Daddy's BBQ & Soul Food is a decent BBQ spot with the potential for greatness. With a bit more attention to consistency in both meat preparation and side dishes, it could easily climb the ranks. If you're in the mood for a casual BBQ experience and aren't too picky about perfection, it's worth a try. Just be prepared for a hit-or-miss adventure in the world of...
Read moreThe first time I went they were out of barbecue…that was disappointing it seems to be the main thing on the menu and how did you allow yourself to run out? I ended up getting cat fish it wasn’t anything to write home about and it took FOREVER! I watched at least 5 more customers enter and leave as I sat there mad at myself I didn’t do the same considering $16.99 is quite a bit to pay for 2 pieces of catfish and customer service left a bit to be desired after a really heavy lady seemed to glue herself to the seat in the order taking window. I asked her if they had a phone number to call to place the order bc the waiting time on an order is so long she said no….it was soon clear she possessed the personality of a wet rag.
The second time I went I finally got to try the rib tips they were good. The customer service still stunk! Although I won’t be going back the first time I went I thought they were having a bad day. However, I am big on customer service and it seems these folks go out of their way not to be friendly and I don’t want angry folks making my food. The food isn’t good enough and way too expensive to deal with servers with bad attitudes.
The good thing is I noticed “Jamaican Seasoned Island” restaurant behind Big Daddy’s when leaving and went there a week later. The food and customer service was amazing…which is the reason you received 2 stars because I would have not seen the Jamaican restaurant if it had not for my 2 trips to...
