Nice ambiance. Server was pleasant and kind . We called in a reservation however upon our arrival there was no reservation for our party. Appetizers were small portions and lacking in flavor. (We had calamari and eggplant fries) the calamari was rubbery and burnt tasting . We had a difficult time splitting the eggplant fries between our party of four. (Each person had 2-3 fries). Server was great but was clearly stretched too thin- during our 2 hour visit we saw her taking tables both upstairs and downstairs with little to no assistance. She remained calm and pleasant during our visit which was refreshing. Other notables: despite the many drinks piling up in the server well, no one was running them Or helping each other out. The server did everything in her power to make our visit enjoyable. Ultimately the portions were ill presented and appetizers were small The wine and server were wonderful. Hopefully this was just an “off day” with the right management this place could be great. The great service staff is...
Read moreElevated comfort food in the best way possible. Pizza Man on Downer strikes the perfect balance between casual and upscale. It’s not just a pizza place — it’s a full-on dining experience. The interior is modern and vibrant, with just the right amount of energy. Great for groups, date nights, or when you want to treat yourself to something legit. The pizza? Outstanding. You can taste the quality in every bite — from the crisp, wood-fired crust to the inventive topping combos that somehow all just work. And while the pizza is clearly the star, don’t sleep on the rest of the menu. The pasta is legit, the appetizers are creative, and the wine list is way better than you’d expect at a pizza joint. Service is sharp and professional without being stuffy. You get the sense that everyone working here actually cares — about the food, the vibe, and your experience. If you’re looking for great food, great drinks, and zero pretension, Pizza Man on Downer is one of...
Read moreIt's been a minute since we've eaten at the reknown Pizza Man. The 2025 experience was mixed with a renovated interior really keeping this business relevant. The food was simply not worth the price, or maybe I'm just just not a fan of the ingredients on the atomico pizza. The crust was crispy and the pizza did feel light which I appreciate but the sopressata, Calabrian pepper combo just didn't quite balance itself out and tasted a bit off. The carbonara pasta was also out of balance, tasting a bit too salty but maybe I'm not a huge pancetta fan after all. I suspect we would have enjoyed other items on the menu like the Topher or the ravioli. But who knows! The grilled calamari was good, but quite portions were small. I would recommend visiting for the upstairs patio deck alone, which overlooks Downer Ave. You could tell that everyone sitting there was really lingering and enjoying every moment of a beautiful...
