I went to visit Scene 1 for Sunday Brunch with my best friend. Upon arrival, we noticed it was very busy (around 1:15 pm) and we waited for the staff to sit us. The hostess sat us in less than five minutes.
The music is really loud like you're in a club so don't plan to attend if you're looking to have an intimate date. We didn't have a problem with that because we were going for a day party experience and to try the food.
As we're talking and enjoying the vibes, waiters walk past but no one stops at our table. 20, 30 minutes go by and no one will even make eye contact with me. We did not get a hello, a water, a napkin, nothing! At this point, I should have got up and said something but my friend was telling me a story and I didn't want to be rude. She didn't even realize because she was so deep into her story.
Finally, at about 45 minutes, a waitress stops at our table and asks if we have been helped yet, I told her no and she said she will be back. I never saw her again.
After an hour, I finally got the hostess's attention and asked who was our server. She was in shock that no one approached us and she said, "they're not supposed to do that. maybe it's because they have a hold on food right now." She guaranteed us that someone will stop by.
After an hour and 15 minutes, a server who was waiting on other tables in our area approached us to take our order. This sever avoided eye contact with me the entire time we were here, but I didn't want to assume our table was his. I asked him about our situation and basically he told me they were short-staffed, management was expecting him to do extra work and he was not going to (and it was his day off anyway) and that management was supposed to help with tables on his side and didn't.
At this point I'm irritated, parched and was over the excuses, but happy that we were finally getting somewhere so we stayed (my friend really wanted to try the catfish). I asked if we would get compensated for our inconvenience and they offered a discount on the meal but never said at what amount. I ordered water and a glass of champagne to start.
We received our water, after being there for an hour and a half, and patiently waited for the server to come back with my champagne so we could finally order food. One of the managers noticed we still only had water, I told him I was waiting on my drink and he said he was on it. More minutes went by, and I noticed there was a table that sat down after we placed our drink order who received their drinks before we did. That was the last straw and I politely got up and left.
Never again will I visit this place. It's a shame that we have to go out of town to have good brunch experiences at black-owned restaurants. As you can see, I am really patient and am understanding but this was just crazy; gave them a chance when we should have left after the first 20 minutes but gave them almost 2 HOURS and they still did not care enough to wait on us.
I hope the owners see this review and put practices in place to ensure another customer is never treated like this again. A customer should never feel invisible while they are taking up a table in...

Maybe it's because they just started brunch they are learning the ins and outs of how to make it more efficient. Who knows🤷🏽♀️. My waitress was really sweet but she did not listen. It could have been that the music was too high which I can understand. I love that they do unlimited mimosas for a decent price but I would recommend just serving the bottle of champagne with a pitcher of juice. Only because our server had lots of tables and we waited at least 20 minutes in between drinks even after we asked for refills. Was offered water we never got. Originally I asked for 2 appetizers and one side but if they didn't have the side available I just wanted to try the ONE entree instead. Came back to let me know it was not available so we proceeded to get the entree I preferred. However due to lack of listening or maybe hearing me (again I don't know) I ended paying for the one entree and basically my original order (apps and sides). I did not say anything about it because again our server was sweet I just would've wished she was more attentive. Next time I might just sit at the bar so I can get faster service. Although one of the bartenders has a slightly nasty attitude. It's a beautiful establishment though. Hoping a better structure or game plan for staff helps with more enhanceed efficiency. I would return again if things got...
Read moreI pulled up to this Black-owned bar and lounge on a Friday afternoon to grab some lunch and show support. But I gotta keep it real: this experience was just… mid.
First off, the place was completely empty. I honestly thought it was closed at first. Walked in, music was on point, and was greeted by a bartender who was kinda friendly, but there was definitely some attitude when I started asking questions. The vibe got a little better once I sat at the bar, but still nothing that made me feel all the way welcome.
The menu? Looked fire — variety. But $22 for 12 wings feels a bit steep, especially for a lunch spot. I settled for 6 wings and fries. The food was decent, nothing to rave about but not bad either. The fries were the best thing. I asked for a soda no ice… got ice anyway. Sprite was trash, flat and weird tasting. I didn’t complain, just kept it pushing.
Overall, it was decent. Not terrible, just not giving what I expected. I imagine this place is probably more lit at night. It definitely feels like it caters to a specific crowd and scene. Maybe that’s where it shines, but for a chill daytime bite? Not quite it.
Hoping they level up the lunch experience or at least keep the vibe consistent no matter the time of day or...
