Tuk Tuk is a brand new Thai restaurant that just opened about 3 months ago and already it's so popular they've had to stop dine in dining after 4pm everyday! The amount of take out orders for dinner overwhelms the small kitchen and they can only cook so fast! So, if you want to dine in, which I think is the best option for the best hottest and well presented food, get here from 11am to maybe 3pm. The food is so beautiful presented, it's well worth dining in! One thing is they will charge a 3% credit card surcharge, as indicated in the receipt, so just be aware, or bring CASH!
The food here is way better than any other Thai place around, even in Reno. We tried of course the Pad Thai to compare to everywhere else, and I gotta say it was better than all the rest for $15.00 you get a nice generous portion with all kinds of meat and veggies, there's no skimping on the good stuff here! The flavor is just better!
Then we tried another standard, the coconut milk soup that everybody has. ($14.95) Wow, this version was so full of solids and meat, this was off the charts good! We got it with pork, which was tender and way more flavor than chicken that most people get.
Last we tried the Pineapple Fried Rice. I thought it was gonna be sort of a gimmick dish, you know, toss in pineapple and make it exotic, but this dish really works and tastes super good with that slight sweet pineapple flavor and or course with pork as the meat. I'd recommend this one just to try!
Overall, I think this Tuk Tuk is a great find, and so dang popular that they have to close off dining inside after 4pm! The food has gotta be good! Check out this place, it's right next to the Starbucks at the north...
Read moreThe food here is way better than most Thai places. The menu is smaller and has all the basic Thai dishes, like Pad Thai noodles and curries and soups.
I just tried the Woon Sen Noodles ($14.95) and thse were fantastic. Not as well known as Pad Thai, it's a very good alternative than the usual Thai experience. It had "thin glass noodles" that absorb the sauce right into the noodles. Give it a try!
The Tom Kha Soup ($14.95) is perfect on a colder day, made with coconut milk and you choice of meat along with lots of veggies and mushrooms, this is a good soup to try! The big bowl serves up to 4 people, or double helpings for two!
On the first visit, we ordered first the Fresh Rolls Shrimp and it came with the best peanut sauce I ever had. Too bad you just get 4 pieces. We also got the pot stickers, you get the choice of deep fried or steamed ... get deep fried! Decent version. Then we had the Yellow Curry Noodle Soup. This is something I never saw before in a Thai place, so I got it and OMG was it good, all full of the pork meat we choose and potatoes and other stuff ... perfect! Last was the Drunken Noodles, another Thai restaurant standard. This was a very good version, just wish the portion was a little larger, it was so good!
I recommend trying out this new Tuk Tuk Thai restaurant, just come before 4pm. cause dining in the the best...
Read moreWOW! I have been here a few times now and will be back many more times!! Traveled to Thailand a few years ago, and I must say, this is the BEST Thai Food i have had in the US. Last visit, we started with the Chicken Satay, and it was outstanding! I had the Yellow Curry, and my Partner had the Panang Curry. Both were noticeably crafted with care and attention. The flavors were on point! The portions were large enough to have leftovers. The saddest part of the whole experience was when the food was gone. That is ok though, because I know where to get more! Thank you Tuk Tuk. I look forward to our...
