I had seen Buster’s on 28th on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, so I thought I would try it out. I had driven by it a ton of times but never stopped.
The ambience is a lot like many other neighborhood bars, but I liked it better. It was spotless and shiny clean, with booths, high tables, and a bar. There were a couple TVs on the wall, on sports channels, but the sound was way down, so it was still easy to have a conversation. Ditto with the background music.
My waitress was young and friendly with a big smile and nicely attentive. She brought my beer promptly as well as taking my food order quickly.
The tap beer list was insanely long. If you can’t find something to your taste, you’re one finicky beer drinker. And they have even more bottled brands if the mammoth tap list doesn’t suit you.
I had a Buster Burger to eat. I ordered it rare and it came back perfectly rare. That meant it was very juicy and tasty. This burger comes with two different cheeses, one being an aged Widmer. Nice and flavorful. The house sauce was a little too pickley for me, but not bad. On the whole, this is one of the better burgers in south Minneapolis.
I had seen their home made hot chips on DD&D, so I ordered them. They were terrific. They come with two dipping sauces, a ketchup-based one and a French onion one. Both were tasty. This is definitely the side you want with whatever entree you order. Yummy.
Even the pickle slice had a nice flavorful snap to it.
All said, this was a nice bar burger meal in a friendly clean neighborhood bar with a ton of beer choices. I will go back.
One final plus is that it’s next door to The Baker’s Wife bakery. So if you finish up at Buster’s before the bakery closes, you can finish things off with dessert from...
Read more1st Stop: Well, the TripleD show featured the Steak Sandwich and the Beer Braised Beef so of course by the time we get here late Friday night they're out of both. The waiter said he'd never seen the two sell out so quickly. On his recommendation I got the Walleye Sandwich and the Mrs got the Pulled Pork Sandwich and Onion Rings....I got the Homemade Chips that were featured on the show and they were as good as Guy was saying that they were! Really made me wish that they had one of the sandwiches available! The Walleye was awesome in its own right and the waiter had made a great suggestion in steering me that way. The bread was a combination of a good crunch on the outside and yet soft on the inside. The walleye was done to perfection and the sauce wasn't your ordinary tartar sauce (has to be a homemade version) and was a great flavor enhancer. Had a bite of the Mrs's Pulled Pork Sandwich and the Onion Rings....Both were winners as well though I'd have preferred just a tad more bbq sauce on the potk. The Pretzel Bread appetizers were warm and amazingly good!
2nd Stop: This time around the Bear Braised Beef Sandwich was available and dayum was it good! Added an order of the Homemade Chips again and they were warm and tasty! The Mrs wasn't too hungry and decided on a Chicken Fritters in BBQ Sauce and they were very...
Read moreBusters rocks my socks off! Our host Stella was helpful, friendly, and attentive. John, our server, was very knowledgeable about the menu and an overall joy to interact with. A few members of our party are regulars, and he will frequently just bring them beers that fit their tastes and he doesn't miss. A top notch service experience.
The salad was crisp, refreshing, and perfectly balanced delivering on every avenue you could hope for. The house made chips with french onion dip are to die for, and the walleye tacos were a smashing special for this summer evening. Rave reviews for the food.
Their patio offers an approachable locale for outdoor dining that feels as comfortable as dining at home but with none of the dishes! The interior has gorgeous dark wood features and inspires a cozy, classic vibe. The establishment is overall very clean as well.
Looking for your new local hang? You've found it. I could write ad nauseam the praises I have for this place, but I think you should check it out...
