I got a regular cheesesteak as well as a philly special (6" with fries and a pop). I'd seen a couple of reviews mention small amounts of filling in the regular sized cheesesteaks, and I had a similar experience.
I think the expectation for a cheesesteak is for the meat to be loaded to the top of the bun along with the toppings (also as pictured on their website). On the larger cheesesteak, it hardly reached the middle of the bun. I ended up having like 3" of bun left after I finished the sandwich because I kept moving meat over to have a bite that wasn't just 75% bread. I also ordered extra cheese on that one, and I'm glad I did - it felt like a regular amount of cheese for a cheesesteak.
The 6" one seemed to have the exact same amount of meat and filling as the regular one, so it was great! Bursting at the seams, great balance of fillings and beef, and it felt like a way better deal.
The truffle fries... I'm not sure where the truffle flavor went, which is impressive that they managed to hide it. I'd stick with the regular fries next time, which were better seasoned.
Overall I thought that the sandwiches were great quality and delicious. I'd just question how they handle portioning. I'll be wary of getting anything other than the 6" if they'll be consistently underfilled like this one.
Also, staff were great. I was there for a pickup order on a Friday night that included a giant birthday party for a 3 year old. Staff were clearly extremely busy, but attended to everyone right away and checked in with me a few times to let me know that my food was almost up, which is a...
Read moreDo you remember Michelangelo’s Pizza on 50th Street near Xerxes? They’ve been gone a while, and their location was unoccupied for several years. Well, a new place finally opened there. It’s pretty much cheesesteaks (8 varieties) and pizza (13 varieties or make your own). I had a cheesesteak (Supreme). It actually reminded me of those I got when I lived in Philly. Somehow the texture was just right - kind of mushy, not just sliced beef and cheese with a cover over it for 30 seconds like you get at a lot of places outside of Philly. Even the roll was just right - strong enough to hold the ingredients, but thin and soft enough not to take over the sandwich. And they weren’t afraid of using black pepper because it’s Minnesota. The fries were unremarkable, but didn’t detract from the excellent cheesesteak. And they offer a special truffle fries that I didn’t try. The decor is quite plain, but spotless and unpretentious. It looks like they can raise the windows for a nice fresh air feel when it gets warm enough next spring. I will...
Read moreOrdered online they didn't add dollops of cream cheese as requested. Were very light with toppings and it looked like they tipped my pizza on its side. Definitely not enough sauce cheese or pepperoni/jalepneo considering they charge $2 per topping. Can't recommend. I can't post the photo but half of my pizza didn't have cheese and there were maybe 15 small pepperonis total and 12 jalepenos. Kind of a rip off imo
Update: The company reached out very promptly via facebook messenger and worked to quickly resolve the issue. They said it is not typical of their normal product and offered a full refund with an abundance of apologies. Unfortunately we were here on vacation so I don't have the option to try again but commend the management and restaurant on their resolution...
