Cold Spring Bakery Connection — Restaurant in Minnesota

I had ordered a baby shower cake and did a 1 hour session to create it. We had ordered a blush pink cake and had requested fondant but we were told it would be too expensive. We did clarify price wasn’t an issue but then were told people do not like the taste of fondant. We did go a different frosting route.

We emphasized that the cake would have to sit out a few hours before the shower and we were told that would be fine.

For decoration we ordered a baby “blush” pink cake with baby blocks on the top. We want the blocks to say welcome baby Lynnea.

We were given a hot pink cake and we were told it would need to be refrigerated. The top layer was super chunky as if the frosting was just slapped on. The blocks were not squares and instead of the words we had requested we were given rectangles with scribbled on shapes and numbers. The blocks were made of fondant, which we had requested a layer of the cake be made of, but then were told no.

When I had called to share my concerns the cake manager Rachel told me to look at my receipt as this was what I had ordered. Overall I was disappointed in the cake I had ordered and the money I had spent trying to fix it. Most importantly I was disappointed in the lack of sympathy and the unwillingness to take any ownership in the outcome of the cake. I’ve had Cold Creek Bakery items before and enjoyed them so I decided to possible look at them for wedding cakes. One of the ladies behind the counter was being very rude and made it a point to tell us three times that they don’t do wedding cakes at this location. Which was never an issue to begin with since we were just trying to look around. Not sure what her issue was but her attitude was hard to get past. I’m not sure if my race was the issue but I’m feeling rather discouraged and am debating on even trying to set up an appointment at their Cold Spring location or just take my business elsewhere. First time here. OK products, nothing outstanding. Even after telling the lady today that it was our first time here she decided to tell me the amount 3 time in less than 2 mind as I was getting my money out to pay. She opened her cash drawer even before I got all my cash out. What if I decided to pay with credit instead? All this just because the person behind me came in to get her pick up and she knew them.
