Coconutz Fusion Cafe — Restaurant in Miramar

First time I visited this restaurant was due to a raving fan of the food so I was excited to check then out. I was new to the Miami area and back home I was accustomed to my jamaican spot.

The place was busy and we ordered to dine in. It took forever to place tbe order and the lady taking the orders did not acknowledge that I needed to order for a good long couple minutes.

The place is a whole in the wall spot but with poor customer service too, not good looks. Thirty minutes later we got our food and it was good so you over look the other random experiences and look forward to a smoother next visit.

Tonight, DISSAPOINTED again. Soon as I got there, a stray pitbull was near the door...maybe that was my sign to leave. Finally, the pitbull leaves and gets struck by a car...should have known that was my second sign.

We drove 45 minutes b/c of traffic to have good food and I ordered 10 minutues away for pick up. We get there and the lady taking orders is not friendly. Same lady I encountered the first visit. We pay for our food and then 5 minutes later she said they had to throw away one of our orders because the meat was not good and suggested another dish like we really have an option when traveling so far and starving.

The food portions are good but the food was just mediocre this time around. Whole Foods hot bar or BurgerFi burgers would have been 10x more satisfying. It was not worth any minute spent rushing to get there. For the person with me being their first experience, they stated will never go back due to poor service.

For me now, I will not either. Why would I travel to get unfriendly service in a whole in the wall spot? There are many other small businesses that respect their business and customers 10x better and I prefer to support them. Six months later after my first visit, they have not improved so I will no longer complain but find a better spot. To return and expect better service next...

Classic if not epic featured Jamaican menu- fusion. I have not gotten to the fusion part much, but it includes a vegetarian or vegan find (but dont quote me, I still fancy a little meat). I Ordered a custom menu on the 1st visit and could'nt wait to get back and do it again. Pricey, but understood. Don't judge this book by it's cover or you may go away with a fresh perspective on why not to so judge. My meal was prepared as it's own in it's own pan, I watched. Gives new meaning to "open kitchen". I saw every fresh veggie get added to the main order in stages like watching a stage performance unfold to the plated finale. The real delight was in the eating. Every portion had life rising from every dip of the fork, teasing satisfaction towards an encroaching, wanting not to end. So far every visit.. Not a letdown, nor short of the present expectation. I don't know the owner, but he is there. Usually sighted in brief passing, but he never fails to acknowledge with a short signature, seamless, sincere, solemn eye contact and a subtle nod. No spoken words, nor forced smile necessary. No mockery, just a sincere spiritual greeting that speaks, thanks for coming or, good to see you. My order typically is ackee and saltfish with okra,...

I’m NOT a local. I travel here for business, but; I’m here enough to be actively looking for NEW GOOD food! I was offered a flyer/card for promotion. No remuneration. Just the card.

The Staff: My experience was fantastic! The menu was explained, the specialties were pointed out and the whole process was comfortable, helpful and professional. These guys are looking to feed people GOOD FOOD!

Jerk Chicken - EXTREMELY flavorful! Tender, moist (not dried out) and pleasantly spicy!

Rice & Peas - VERY well prepared! A perfect take on a CLASSIC dish. Absolutely “SPOT ON”!

Cabbage - OUTSTANDING! A GREAT addition as a side. My hat is off to them. This was a surprise to me and I recommend it highly!!!

Seems like they are JUST opening up. The Place looks like it’s going to have a fantastic “vibe”!
