Went around 5pm on Saturday for some quick food and a couple drinks. All the girls were nice. The food came quick. I ordered a grapefruit sculpin for 8 bucks and she brought a 12 Oz can and poured it in a glass right in front of me which was kinda cheesy for a 400% mark up beverage. When the food came it came with a swarm of fruit flies, I'm guessing for seasoning. This allowed us to play a game called get the fly. Unfortunately the flies won and we would up losing our appetite flies were dropping into our drinks and on to our plates. We both got stomach aches after leaving which we believe we're from the undercooked meatballs. We noticed that the hostesses were laughing at our dilemma and we also noticed that the manager decided to avoid us completely and not even ask is how our food was or if there was anything she could do. I'd say if you want to belly up at the bar and drink overpriced beers served by male bartenders then this place is fine. I don't recommend eating here and I don't recommend taking a date here. The only thing I'll do here is drink their whiskey flights but that's about it. The location is interesting. The hostesses were nice the management has no accountability the actual restaurant seems clean but we all know fruit flies come from lazy or maybe buzzed bartenders not doing their job at the end of the night which makes it disgusting to even think about eating food in this place and that sucks for the servers because they should have to suffer. I'd recommend them finding a new employer so they can make the tips they deserve and I'd recommend to the restaurant to at least acknowledge your guests and discuss the elephant in the room instead of hiding in the back and ignoring it and then maybe think about not pouring a 12 Oz $2.00 can of beer in front of your customer when you are charing 8 bucks plus tax for the joy of drinking the beer from that can in a room full of flies. 3 stars is generous because I too am a business owner and know how a negative review can impact a business. I wanted to...
Read moreWell, we went there for my birthday, only because I had a gift card to use. I am English and was raised on pretty boring food, not complaining just saying! But I kept a stiff upper lip and gave her a go. My wife liked the fish and chips but not the peas. A bit pricey, I believe $23 for a medium amount of battered cod and some french fries, blimey, I meant Irish Fries. I decided to try the Cottage Pie based on the recent reviews, the 2 things that I can say in a positive tone was that it was very mildly spicy and it remained hot for a full 1/2 hour (amazing) other than that it had the consistency of soup/stew with a large portion of mashed potatoes thrown on the top. I mean it wasn't bad if you like soup with mash potatoes on top. Not actually what I was expecting. Plus I thought, I am going to order an IPA to top of the experience, my wife had a glass of water. So, I ordered an IPA on tap, they were out, OK, that can happen, I ordered a Sculpin IPA my second go to, not my favorite but good, sorry we are out, hmm, I thought this was a gastro pub? Anyway, the waiter did bring me 2 other IPA tastes that were on draft but I don't believe they were on the menu, actually 1 of them, started with oak in the name actually was very tasty and I enjoyed it, really had a kick to it. Probably couldn't catch the complete name as it was so noisy in there that I could barely even think. Not their fault, just a small place with a lot of people, so beware! and we were in the back. As a disclaimer, I am 60 something and prone to complain a lot so you may want to keep that in mind. I believe a lot of people like this place as I did hear people who were leaving have nice things to say. But for mashed potato topped tasty stew/soup and fish and chips with a tiny little container of mushy peas and a beer for $54. I can think of much better places to go. I think I will spend my quid elsewhere in the future. Thank god for...
Read moreWe have enjoyed this restaurant since it first opened and recently had dinner there. We still love the intimate feeling, the friendly service, and the unique menu. I can say we love this place.
First it is an Irish style experience. They feature good food with a unique take on virtually any dish. We like to share appitizers and make a meal of the small dishes. Last evening it was calamari and crab cakes and their unique "french fries". The sauces make each item an adventure and each is presented in a unique way.
The restaurant is small, a narrow place with full bar (Irish), and tables and high tops. The ambience is lively and a little loud, there is always some sporting event on the television. Always some special on the menu, and an extensive wine list. We enjoyed an very well made Old Fashion that would make a believer out of anyone.
Located in a small development just off Oso Parkway, parking is always fun (hint, there is parking behind the building and there is usually spaces there), access can be a little challanging the first time you visit. Be brave it is worth circling back if you miss the first time.
I need to mention the desserts. Last eveing it was a Blueberry, Meyer Lemon Bread Pudding. To say it was incredible is an understatement.
Bottom line, go here. This a dining experience...
