The man wanted sushi for his birthday, so of course that's what we're getting. Asahi revamped, a new date night spot that needs to be added on your eat list. Under new ownership, this is a completely new menu, experience, and vibe. Y'all know, I love some good fresh fish, and trust me... I know how hard it is to get in Mississippi 😉 Not that you can't get fresh, you can, you just have to pay a little more for it. I LOVVVEEE Uni (sea urchin) which isn't always readily available, so when restaurants have it, I'm ordering it. I've said "This place has the best!" Well the best has been beaten. Asahi holds THE BEST uni I've had in the last several years. Even better than the ones I've special ordered in from Cali a few weeks ago. Their sweet shrimp was SOOO SWEET!! Melt in your mouth perfection. The crispy fried shrimp head was so good, I had to stop and look closer at it, because I swear it was stuffed with something haha like shrimp crack, it was simply amazing. The man has been to Japan several times, and is a bigger sushi fan than I am (can you believe that?!), he approved, and said this might just be his new favorite spot. We usually go for the omakase which is chefs choice of premium pieces, but since we didn't see it, we just went for the biggest combo which includes 12 thick pieces of sashimi, 9 pieces of sushi nigiri, 1 tuna roll (but we subbed for a philly roll), California roll, and your choice of the specialty roll. We got the Out Of Control roll, not only was it out of control, it was out of this world good!! It had something crunchy and sweet in it, almost taste like a sweet pickled radish, whatever it may be, I don't care, it works, and it was amazing. Even their simple philly roll, when you think simple is just, ehhh... simple... no, they've set the bar. The fish tasted like it was just cured in house. Fresh fish should have a little chew, a little tug, a little bite, it had it all. We didn't see the Cali roll, but we ain't mad about it, everything was so good, we didn't even noticed. The owners mother came out and gave us some of her homemade kimchi, it tasted like it came out of a Korean grandmas kitchen 😋 BTW they have an array of sake, they let the man try some carbonated sake, which we haven't seen around here, it's uniquely good in its own. If you haven't had carbonated sake, come try it here! Our server was very knowledgeable, and whatever she wasn't sure about, she asked, much appreciated for that! They've just opened so the menu is still limited. The staff is new, so be patient, be understanding, be kind because the wait might be a little long, but it's worth it. The place looks likes you're in one of those alleyways in Japan, and come across a sushi and sake bar 😍 I've included the menu for yall.

Ordered to-go so I can’t really say much for atmosphere or service. But I ordered scallop and filet hibachi and my fiancé ordered the salmon hibachi. We were completely underwhelmed with the amount of meat that we got for the price we paid. And completely disappointed in the fact that I got shrimp instead of scallops! I didn’t even eat the shrimp. It tasted “good” but for the price, 8 pieces ( I counted) of diced steak isn’t quite cutting it. You aren’t getting your moneys worth. My fiancés salmon also just looked manhandled and like the portion was small for the price. Eat at your own risk.

Thankful for Madden! They were amazing providing service and ensuring my needs/wants were met. However, It’s 5/11 and I’m awfully sick due to food poisoning. This is NOT okay. I’m terribly ill from the shashimi, miso soup, L hot tea, and Snow White roll no rice ONLY nori. It’s not safe to eat here because of the food. I’m not sure which item exactly made me deathly ill. But out of what I ordered mentioned above I woke up feeling really bad.

I work not far from this establishment and will pick up DoorDash or Uber eats orders from time to time from this restaurant and I am met with the same unenthused set of staff every time! There have been multiple times I have arrived and stood and waited on an order for 30 or more minutes before being helped. Today took me by complete surprise as I arrived and was not greeted or assisted in anyway and multiple people came in after me, stood in line behind me and were greeted and helped. I’m not sure if it was a race thing but I had to walk to the kitchen to solicit assistance picking up an order that indeed was ready when I arrived. I do not like the atmosphere as it would seem as though they only find joy in serving white patrons. I will not be accepting any further delivery orders from...

This place is outstanding!! There is nothing like it in the area! You’ll enjoy the experience from beginning to end. First, the vibe and feel when you step inside makes you think you’ve left the south and stepped into a big city! The music, the lights, the decor- the whole feel! The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The drinks we had to get started were superb and unique, you can tell they were well thought out. And that’s all before they brought out the food! We ordered several appetizers and sushi. There was not one thing that wasn’t absolutely over the top DELICIOUS! Best sushi in town HANDS DOWN! So fresh, so flavorful! And again unique! You can tell the chef must be very experienced and great and what he does! We will be back...
