Black Axes of Brandon MS was not a very welcoming environment. 25 minutes of our paid hour consisted of coaching from employees and owners that could not do what they were trying to teach us to do. Any small mistake in throwing the axe consisted of scolding, side eye-ing, and, “small man rage” from the the bartender.
We understand that we were not the best at axe throwing but the lack of patience and understanding from most employees discouraged any further participation from my group and me. We were having fun trying to learn a new thing and the slightest rebound of an axe towards our feet after hitting flat against a wall made the bartender/owner/small man leave his post, snatch the axes out of our hands, and raise his voice his voice to threaten to kick us out. I believe this was done to assert his dominance over the small crowed that had gathered around us and show everybody how truly powerful he could be.
The only thing keeping me from giving Black Axes a 1 star review is the kindness and understanding of the bald gentleman with the beard that was actually trying to correctly and patiently walk us through the process instead of immediately throwing out accusations and threats.
I know a random opinion does not matter on the internet but I would not recommend Black Axes in Brandon unless you an experienced, above average...
Read moreThis place use to be great now it’s too small if you want to throw axes. They use to have a bunch of lanes to throw, and then tables and chairs for your food and drink but they have removed those lanes and added in bar seats for people to sit and hang out. Also they have pool tables and if you happen to be like us and get on lane 5 & 6 there is a pool table less than 3 feet from you. Ask for lane 1 and 2 because we had to keep moving and apologizing to the guys playing pool because there were 8 of us and no where for us to stand or sit when it was not your turn to throw. Oh and forget food and drinks while you now throw. We ordered 4 drinks and 3 appetizers and they could not fit on the table. Before the remodel we would have had two tables verses just one. I really hope they rethink their setup as this was a fun place to take a group of friends and throw axes. Also not sure if we just were on the wrong lane but the axes would not stick. The guys working there threw them a few times as well and could not get it to stick. They came and sprayed water on the board but it still didn’t get better. Not sure if they need to sharpen the axes but all in all it made for a frustrating hour and I hate that because we usually enjoy ourself. Maybe we will try their other location in Peal but I’m not...
Read moreWe are in from out of town for my partners work: I would leave negative 10 stars if I could. It should not be called black axes. There are 4 horrible lanes. They made my fiancée and I share a two lane with no separation with a group of 6 EXTREMELY intoxicated people. We didn’t even throw. It’s not safe by any means. I’ve been throwing for 10+ years. I’ve never seen worse lanes. I’ve thrown in several states : west coast and the south and east coast. This is not normal - DO NOT let the pics deceive you. It doesn’t look like the pics at all. Also if you’re a walk in good luck getting nice service. When we asked for a refund; a very very ANGRY Manager led us to the cash register; also he had some RANDOM MAN FOLLOW EXTREMELY close to me on our way to the register. As a woman I totally felt uncomfortable. We were not hostile, we simply told them we didn’t feel safe throwing in that kind of environment, that we were sorry & had we known we would be sharing lanes, we would’ve just left to begin with. The hostility was not needed nor warranted. He argued back and forth and was just not a nice guy. Do not go here for axes: go for the bar and band I guess. Although we didn’t stay for the drinks or food that portion seemed fine. The pool tables...
