Spillway Diner — Restaurant in Mississippi

Terrible takeout experience. Called in to place my order at 11:30 AM. I was told that it will be 45 mins to an hour. Arrived at the restaurant after 12:30. They promptly took my payment and then the hostess informed the kitchen staff to start preparing my order. I guess the 45 minute estimate was just a random number that had nothing to do with orders in queue.

The restaurant was about 30% full. While I waited three tables were served and one more table was in the wait. At around 12:50 (twenty minutes after my arrival at the restaurant), the cook stepped off the grill to enquire if I was waiting for a takeout order or to place a dine in order!!! 1 hour and 20 minutes after having placed my order, they had NO CLUE that I was waiting for my food. Anyway, my order was finally ready after 10 more minutes. The server took her own sweet time talking to customers, checking her phone, and engaging in banter while bagging my takeout boxes, and handed them over to me without even a hint of an apology for the 1.5 HOUR WAIT.

When I got home I realized that there were no waffles, as ordered, in my MVP breakfast. And they hadn't packed in any cutlery either. The food was okay, I guess, but frankly I wasn't even hungry any more. Next time I can anticipate being hungry in about two hours, I will definitely consider ordering again from...

I would go back but I noticed I got over charged not just 1 time but 3 times $1.49 for drinks that comes with the kids meal and the dinner. I still have my receipts. Its the young Caucasian girl at the register. When I asked her if drinks come with the meals she said yes.. i asked her why she overcharged me on last order and i showed her the receipt. She apologized or whatever.. but i looked back at my other 2 prior receipts and she overcharged me both times. The last time, on a Saturday after 5p.m , I visited amd ordered wings and the Black American lady with the locs undercooked my chicken wings and I had to put them in the oven for another 5 to 8 minutes. I can only guess the lady thought that taking chicken out of grease early will still cook the chicken through. The chicken skin was soggy on the outside and the inside still had blood on the bones. I ordered lemon pepper and mild wings 6 of each. I also didn't even go back because I felt like they only did that because I was new and checking out restaurants in the area. I thought this one would be my favorite but turns out not to be. The food prior to the wings is really good though. Homemade and fresh tastes and I wanna say atleast 4star rating. The cook was excellent, but the service was inconsistent. The young server seemed overwhelmed—she didn’t know the menu well, forgot part of our order, struggled to understand customers, and frequently disappeared. She definitely needs more training, especially during busy holiday periods. The older server was more experienced but didn’t greet me when I arrived, and despite trying several times to get her attention, she kept walking by. I wasn’t sure what to do when I got there, so I asked another dining family, and they told me to just pick a table.

The bathroom was very clean. The wait for our food was long, and when it arrived, the order was incorrect. We had placed a to-go order, which was ready for several minutes, but no one brought it to us until we refused to pay. Afterwards, the server confirmed it was ready, and we were given a 10% discount.
