I come here at least once a week and have experiences for both slower days and busier nights.
During slower days: I’m usually greeted by the charismatic waitress and the chef. Both are very friendly and welcoming, making me feel at home.
I order anything the Ka Pao Gai from the lunch menu because you get a side salad and soup. The Ka Pao Gai is always delicious! It’s grounded chicken with a herbal tasting sauce with rice. It also comes with an egg on top. I get mine with the yolk in it but you can ask to have it scrambled if preferred.
The sides are just as fantastic!!! The salad dressing is a homemade sauce that the chef makes. It’s so good that I consistently ask if the chef would sell it by a bottle lol.
The soup tastes so refreshing and smooth made of different vegetables. It’s also on the lighter side. Doesn’t seem to have heavy ingredients, so it’s moreso a lighter taste than super seasoned.
During busy nights: The same waitress always serves me when I come. If the night is super busy, I’ll be briefly greeted by Falyn, I think her name is, and she’ll either seat me or let me know that there is a wait time. Wait times can vary between 5-35 minutes depending on how busy. I have read multiple reviews with complaints on wait times but I, personally, do not mind. There is 1 maybe 2 chefs back there and a dishwasher from my recollection. The wait time doesn’t bother me because I know the food will be good every single time and it comes out quickly as well! I’ve never had to wait more than 15 minutes for my food once seated. I’ve had to wait for seating at steakhouses for 45mins to an hour before for mediocre food. So I don’t mind waiting for quality food here. My evening meals always include at least one appetizer along with a Thai tea, an entree, and a desert.
The Thai tea is PERFECT. Not too sweet or too milky/creamy. Just right.
For the appetizer, I usually get the Chicken Satay or the Lemon Grass Wings. The Chicken Satay used to be my favorite but I think they hired someone new so they aren’t as juicy and tasty as before BUT they’re still good and recommended. Comes with a peanut sauce and a red onion with cucumber sauce. I absolutely love both sauces. The Lemon Grass Wings are a hit every single time. Delicious.
My entree is usually one of the many curries or stir fried noodles. I recommend the Panang curry. It’s similar to the Red curry although tastier and with lemongrass! The curry comes with rice of course but I like to order a side of the bread tortilla things. I forgot what they were called but it tastes good when dipped in the curry. If I get noodles, I’ll get either the Pad Woon Sen or Lo Mein. I was skeptical about getting Lo Mein from a Thai restaurant but it’s SOOO GOOD. The noodles are thick and tasty. Pad Woon Sen is a thin see-through type of noodle and it’s so delicious. Try it when dining it. I don’t recommend ordering any of the noodle dishes to go because they tend to dry out a bit once I get home.
For desert, I like to get one of the many cheesecakes. They’re so good! I like the green tea and chocolate ones the most. I was recently told that there’s a mango flavor now and I’ll be trying that next! Mango and sticky rice is my other choice and it isn’t always available due to the mangoes being out of stock but when it is, ITS SO GOOD. Definitely try it if you’re lucky enough to be there when it’s in stock.
I’m rating this restaurant a 5 star because the food is fantastic, the people are hard working and kind, and the service is superb. I hope that Krua Thai will be staying in Brandon for a...
Read moreWe were seated promptly and orders for drinks and appetizers were taken straight away. My bride ordered hot green tea and I order Thai coffee. For appetizers, we ordered the veggie egg rolls and fried tofu. The very nice waitress returned shortly with our appetizers and informed me that the Thai coffee was not available so I substituted with Thai tea. We placed our orders for our main courses. I ordered the pho soup for my bride and ordered the seafood gumbo red curry for myself with extra shrimp. It all went downhill from there. Thirty minutes later, we still had not received our meal. We watched another couple come in, get served their food, they had a very pleasant dinner, and left. We still had not received our meal. How does that happen? I noticed that they had ordered the red curry for their main course, the same dish that I had ordered. The waitress had apologized a few times, explaining that they only had one cook. While that is certainly understandable, it does not explain another couple being served before us, finishing their meal and leaving, and we are still waiting for our order. After approximately 40 minutes, the waitress arrived at our table with the sides for the pho soup and served me some kind of fried rice dish. When I asked her what this was, she remembered that I had ordered the red curry and took my plate back to the kitchen. She returned right away with the pho soup and I encouraged my bride to start eating while her food was hot while I continued to wait on my order. My bride, whom is Filipino and has recently arrived in the United States, has eaten pho soup in several different Asian country. She was very disappointed with her meal. Aside from not liking the flavor, the menu stated that it would include meatballs. There were no meatballs. Other ingredients were very sparse. The broth was brown, rather than clear, and had a flavor reminiscent of the ramen noodles that you buy in Walmart with the little flavor packet. About 10 minutes later (approximately 50 minutes after placing my order) my red curry dish arrived. As you might imagine, I was very skeptical at this point. As previously stated, I had ordered extra shrimp with my red curry dish. I took the time to count the shrimp in my dish. I had a total of seven shrimp. Does that sound like extra shrimp to you? This was my first time to order a red curry dish so I do not have anything to compare it to. My bride took a taste and had no comment. All said, a very unpleasant experience. It should be noted that when we were seated, I told our waitress that this was our first time visiting them. Before we left, she sincerely apologized for the unacceptable long wait, adding that she was very sorry that this happened on our first visit to their restaurant. Needless to say, this was our first, and last, visit to this establishment. To all our fellow Asian food lovers, checkout the Saigon Restaurant in Flowood. Following this visit to the Krua Thai, we have now eaten at all of the Asian restaurants in the Jackson area. The Saigon restaurant is, hands down, the best in Central Mississippi. We have been there numerous times and we are always completely satisfied with the food and the service. Authentic Vietnamese food that is freshly made and absolutely delicious. The Pho soup? Addictively delicious! If you have not been there yet, give them a go, you will not be...
Read moreWe frequent this place alot. 10 times and more. Our order always has been $75+ for family of 4. Food has always been very good, portions are small but good food. I placed to go order recently and bill was $87.00 dollars. They got my wife and daughter lo mein "spicy level" completely wrong. It had no flavor. We live 30min away. So by the time we made it home, ate and realized it. We called and explained the situation. They didn't believe us and demanded we bring food back that night to get refund or remake. ( The 2 orders of lo-mein was part of our order. It only cost $36.00, the other items were totally fine no problem. I told them I was not driving back 30 min to get food prepared again. Again. We spent almost 100 dollars to be treated like this. Even McDonald's will remake your food or give you a credit for another day. We have small kids that need to get in bed. They said if you don't bring it back 2nite, it's nothing they can do. Unacceptable. Needless to say. I will not be back. They lost a good customer. Bangkok Thai on 49South is cheaper, way more portions and same good tasting. I have tried them all. They lost us...
