Bitterroot Beanery — Restaurant in Missoula

As a Montana local, there are plenty of great coffee places to choose from, and I’ve been to many myself, including managing one of my own, and I have yet to find a coffee place quite like the Bitterroot Beanery. I grew up in Hamilton, where my family and friends and I would frequent and enjoy the local stand at the marketplace. After graduating, I moved up here to Missoula and was so excited to discover there were other locations near me and now as an adult I still frequent and enjoy getting my morning coffee from them. The thing that stands out to me most about the Beanery, is not only the quality and CONSISTENCY of the coffee, but the talented and kind baristas you will meet at any location. You can truly tell they take pride and care into what they do and they always deliver a fantastic product with a smile. My barista, Heather, at the location next to the mall, is a true Queen and artist when it comes to the coffee she makes. She is consistently accurate and thoughtful, and whenever I need a good coffee, or an afternoon pick me up, I know I can count on Heather to make me the perfect drink! I always loved going to their Missoula location. Until the past month or 2. I'll go during their business hours and no one is there. Not even a sign saying they will be back. Their employees don't usually wear masks and if they do, it's incorrectly. It usually takes me TWENTY FIVE minutes to get coffee. One coffee. Even when there is only a car ahead of me. Their staff have started saying something alone the lines of "how much are you going to tip." I always always tip but it comes across so harsh. I often have to explain what basic drink I would like. Speaking on behalf of the Missoula location, I absolutely love this coffee shop. The employees are amazing and super friendly every time I stop by plus the coffee is amazing. That being said due to the amazing employees that make this successful coffee shop so successful, I find it is absurd that if I have to pay with a credit card I CANNOT tip. As an employer that might be the biggest slap in the face to the people that keep your doors open!!
