My family and I came in here in January 31st around 2:00. It was the first day of Lobsterfest 2019. It was busy at the time and the hostess said that it would be a 15 minute wait for a table unless we wanted a booth. We kindly told her that due to health issues one of our family members could not fit in a booth and that we didn't mind waiting. We were the only people sitting on the waiting bench in the lobby. Everything seemed to be fine until "Joe The Manager" who looks like Caesar Milan the Dog Whisperer (yes his name is actually Joe and he is the manager) came out of the kitchen. He began barking at my family saying that the booths were available right away and we didn't have to wait. My dad said that some of us couldn't fit in the booths gesturing at a different family member. Joe The Manager very rudely replied "yeah I can see that" . Mind you, this family member is an elderly DISABLED VETERAN and to have Joe The Manager insult him that way is exceedingly disrespectful and truly unacceptable. This man served our country and was never the same because of it. To have Joe The Manager talk about him this way is really unbelievable. Luckily this family member didn't hear Joe The Manager say that to him and we didn't tell him about it because he would've been furious and probably would've really insulted this veteran. My father also seemed very insulted, but he knew that this family member REALLY REALLY wanted to participate in lobsterfest so he held his tongue. My mother who did not hear the conversation between my dad and Joe The Manager asked if we could sit in the second dining area that is straight back from the entrance. Joe The Manager replied very loudly and rudely "NO you can sit in a booth. Food tastes the same whether you sit at a table or a booth". What kind of a response is that to a customer who asked an honest question??? I got angry and confronted Joe The Manager about the way he talked to my mother and the other family member. Joe The Cowardly Manager wouldn't even look me in the eye and he replies "yup uhuh uhuh thanks buddy uhuh got it" then ran away to the kitchen. How cowardly, and unprofessional! At this point Joe The Manager had angered almost everybody except my veteran relative who was oblivious to the situation. We put up with it regardless for my relative.
The food was actually good. All five of us got Lobster and the exclusive steak combo. The rest of the staff was actually great and definitely made the experience more bearable.
I just cannot get over the fact that Joe The Manager treated us that way. To insult a DISABLED VETERAN and my MOTHER who is a high rolling customer is very very unacceptable. I will never go to another Montana Club or Hoagieville again (they are all owned by Nick Elonzo) unless Joe The Manager is fired. My family spent $280 on that meal for 5 plus 18% tip. That meal costs more than Joe The Manager makes in 2 days of working I bet (that's tips factored in too). To have such a lowlife person talking to my family that way is infuriating and completely unbelievable. Joe The Manager needs to be fired. Nick, if you're reading this, the only way to make this right in my mind is to fire Joe...
Read moreThe Montana Club is our “go-to” for special occasions, especially birthdays. Whoever’s birthday it is gets a discount on their meal that matches their age. Bring your I.D. and show up on your birthday. We’ve done that for family birthdays for at least 15 years.
They’ve got servers who’ve been there as long as we’ve been going there. Hanna has been there all these years and is as positive and efficient as she was on day one. Jake and Buddy have also been there for a long time. They all provide excellent, friendly service and are fast.
Their menu has favorites we get each time.
We used to go to Montana Club every week after ballet, but they’ve raised their prices so much that we frequent two other restaurants across the street weekly and only go to Montana Club for birthdays and days Hanna is working once every couple months. Other restaurants nearby haven’t raised their prices to the extent that Montana Club has, and are taking their business.
That said, for birthdays and special occasions such as Thanksgiving, Montana Club is well worth the price and highly recommended. If you’re on a budget, but want to experience the atmosphere- their house soups are fantastic and affordable, as is their side salad. Their waffle sweet potato fries are delicious and a good substitute for regular fries with sandwiches and burgers.
Lobster fest is a must! If you’re in the area for lobster fest, it’s highly...
Read moreCame to Montana Club on Brooks Street on 5-29-2022. Had a table top of 17-20 of us. Was informed about an hour wait. No biggie. Got there at 5:45pm. Had a few drinks in the bar. Seated about 6:30pm. We where ok with the wait to be seated. We all ordered our food. (One person didn’t even get to eat cause they messed up her food twice, which was remedied with a gift card and taken off the bill) our friend ordered a steak it was burnt on one side, and cold on the other. Not cooked how he wanted. A few of us had the southwest soup. Always look forward to that soup. The chips where stale, and the soup seemed to be the bottom of the pot type. And again was cold. I ordered the Crab Dinner. The crab was par at best. The mashed potatoes where cold. There was so many issues with this visit. This was my birthday dinner. And it was not very impressive. Like all the food was under a warming lamp. Last year we came and had less people, and they put a mandatory 18 percent gratuity. During this visit there was no mandatory 18 percent gratuity. What is that about? We did still tip tho. Took about an hour to get our food that was subpar. And during pay time it seems like it took another 30-45 minutes to get our bill back with change etc. so from start to finish we spent about 3 hours there with 1 hour being waiting for a table. Definitely a very stressful dinner, and upsetting with...
