Read moreI went as a solo diner tonight on my one night stay in Missoula and was favorably impressed. I think I had lunch here a number of years ago, but hadn’t tried many items and didn’t know what to expect. I was hungry, so I ordered an appetizer (egg rolls - $12), a green salad ($8) and an entree (The Stones pasties - $14). I ordered three items based on the modest menu prices, expecting smaller portions, since that would be what I would get for those prices in Seattle.
Instead, I got Montana portions. The salad was practically a meal, and the egg rolls (with corned beef and veggies and a Thai dipping sauce, sounds weird but was hot and delicious) were 3 large egg rolls each cut in half and easily could have been an entree. The two pasties were hot, nicely seasoned and came with a ramekin of brown gravy and a LARGE serving of a country style potato salad. All tasty, but simply too much of a good thing. I could not possibly eat it all.
As an Irish restaurant, they have a full bar with a fairly large selection of Irish whiskys, a fair number of single malts, and an equal number of bourbon and the like. I had a couple of Smithwicks on tap instead.
I came toward the end of service on a Sunday night, and got attentive and quick service, without feeling rushed. I think I was their last customer that evening. I’ll be back, probably on my return in a couple weeks, but will order a...
Read moreThis place has amazing food and a wonderful staff. I was shut down in Missoula while my truck was being repaired. This restaurant was across the street from the hotel. Plus my taxi driver highly recommended the food. Well, Tony, my driver was right. They have a menu chock full of great food, it's hard to decide what to get. I ordered food to eat there and to take back to the hotel. I was surprised to find that they also have a special menu which had several Cajun food options for celebrating Mardi Gras. It didn't matter whether it was Cajun or Irish, their food was fantastic. And my server, Jordan, was one of the best servers I've had in a long time. I didn't get the name of the gal that greets you as you come in, but she must be the happiest person in the world, because every time I saw her talking to someone, whether they were a customer or co-workers, she had a smile on her face. The next time I'm sitting in Missoula for a while I'm definitely coming back here. If they would do Door Dash or GrubHub it would be even better because they don't have room to...
