All things to keep in mind of soft opening
Food: Food was mediocre at best, especially for the price they are requesting. Har gao/shu mai were about $8.50/$6.50 respectively. I don't mind paying higher prices for location and food but it was standard at best. Turnip cake was dense, lacking flavor and cold. The crispy chicken, crispy beef puffs and stir fried beef noodles were good but that was the highlight.
Service: Service was quite well. Waiter was attentive and learning the menu still which is fine for the soft opening. We did not appreciate him adding rice ($2/bowl) when we didn't order any rice as well as when he informed us they sold out of a certain item, he left it on the bill and we had to point it out. Besides that, again, all staff was kind and attentive, especially for a soft opening I was impressed on that.
Atmosphere: Very well decorated, seats were distant enough and dining area was clean.
Overall really wanted to like this place but with the price/dish they are asking and the quality of the food we received, I do not see myself...
Read moreOne Dim Sum is a hidden gem in the Sugar Land/Missouri City area. Our party tried about a dozen dishes ranging from typical fare to more unique dishes, and overall the food is excellent. I was pleasantly surprised to try dishes that I don’t normally see at typical dim sum restaurants like a deep fried glutinous rice puff filled with a sweet yet savory salted egg yolk creamy filling. Standouts were the tender Beef flat noodles (though a tad bit oily) and soft shell crab. Ambience is clean and modern. Service was very attentive and friendly. The managers were particularly noteworthy. They made the experience fun and enjoyable. The restaurant is a bit difficult to locate in the expansive shopping strip as there are no signs other than the one above the restaurant’s entrance. Menu prices are expensive compared to what typical diners expect for dim sum in our area. If you’re hankering for dim sum and are up to trying out One Dim Sum, I’d recommend...
Read moreI highly doubt this restaurant will stay open for more than 6 months. Prime example of people with money to open a business but do not know how to run one, or market one. The location is bad. GPS doesn’t guide me to it. Leads me to the center of the plaza almost. No signs or guidance to get to the restaurant. Second, food was just above mediocre. The noodle dish was nice. Soup dumplings were great. Siomay was acceptable but a bit bland. The interior was well done but looks like they overspent money on interior too much rather than location. Location is very important to a restaurant. Service was great at...
