Came here on a whim when we drove by and I do not regret at all. Still during soft opening and already very promising.
The detailing and atmosphere of the restaurant is dressy casual; very welcoming and nice. They provide you with a photo menu to aid you with your decision on what to choose.
Service was great. Attentive to each table, answered and questions that we had about the menu, and even offered glass of ice water when we finished the drinks we ordered. Always making sure that we have what we need and taking that extra step to provide great customer service whether it be indirect or direct. Toilets have automated seat cover changer for sanitary reasons, hand soap, and hand lotion provided at the sink.
Fried Chicken :: Super crispy, batter is a medium-ish batter, flavorful, and the chicken stayed moist.
White Gourd Tea:: Sweet and refreshing, comparable to a sugar cane juice. Highly recommend if you are interested in trying something new, but not be too risky in flavor.
Combination Chow Mein:: Delicious dish if you want a medium thick noodle with a mixture of meats. The chicken was moist and juicy, some piece of the char sui was a bit dry, but it still had that delicious sweet asian bbq flavor, and the noodles were cooked perfect al dente with a slight hidden smokey grill flavor.
Black Sesame Mont Blanc:: The sesame puree is delicious; black sesame flavor comes out beautifully with a slight sweetness to it. The cake base is nice and light, but also has a lovely soft black sesame flavor. The only negative about the dessert is the whipped cream center. Its frozen so it was just a mouth full of solidified heavy cream in my mouth. Not the best texture and flavor. Also, the "fork" that was given to eat the dessert isn't the best utensil, great for a fondue, but to eat a Mont Blanc...not exactly the go to tool I would choose.
Overall, the aesthetics of everything is well presented. Clean and classy-ish feel/look. The food is great. Selection is also well varied. Combination of many Asian cultural dishes, from Japan, Shanghai, Taiwan, Korea, etc. I can't wait to return when its actually open trying other dishes on their menu that I noticed. Definitely will be the new up and coming China Town area. Looking forward to it. Will update when the official...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEveryone, even the chefs in the open concept kitchen greeted us!
The chefs wore hair nets and gave me confidence in the sanitary conditions in the kitchen. Seeing them prepare food was interesting. The servers wore uniforms, which was good, and hair was neatly tied back.
Our server was very nice! She always had a smile on her face, was efficient and so helpful in offering suggestions. The tablet she brought over had pictures of the entrees so we knew what we were getting.
The Shrimp Tempura had a light batter I really like, but the shrimp was soft, not firm.
The eggroll wrappers were satisfyingly crunchy, but the filling inside was mushy. They don't squeeze out the moisture like my mother did when she made eggrolls. They didn't taste greasy, so the fryer is set high enough to do it right.
My husband's beef noodle soup was good. He said the beef was tender, but not really moist. (Maybe it was boiled and that made it a bit dry.) He looked at the bowl and said he'd probably take some home. Ha-ha, he finished it!
My Laksa had plenty of noodles and little clams all over with two big shrimp and lots of tofu, which I love! Just wish they would put the shrimp and clams in later so they wouldn't taste over-cooked. I enjoyed the firm texture of the noodles. There wasn't as much broth as I like, so maybe the thicker broth is Singaporean-style. It was rich and flavorful and I think there were little bits of real coconut in it. I took the rest home and will add broth - hope I don't dilute the robust flavor too much!
They had a promotion going on. Post a photo of the restaurant/food and receive a complimentary (small) "blue" lunchbox with stay-cool pack. Okay, I posted that picture, too!
Overall, we felt welcomed, the food came out in a timely manner and though I thought the soup prices were a little high for this area, the quality of the soups were pretty good.
We'll come back to try...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis restaurant remained closed for dine in due to lack of staffs. There are currently only two person working so even the takeaway option can take quite some time. I would suggest the owner to consider reducing the amount of options in the menu which could help reduce wait time for the customer.
Despite so, I really like some of the food that we have tried from the menu and I hope to try more in the future.
Danzai Noodle (5/5) Favorite dish so far, I would reorder again š Chicken Noodle Soup (4/5) abit oily I would ask to cut down on the oil in the future Singapore Style Vermicelli and Seaweed Soup (4/5) I do not think this is Singapore style but it is still a good dish thatās done with curry powder. It comes in a huge bowl and it is very filling. Laksa (2/5) Not to my liking. It is definitely not Malaysian style. The taste is abit too strong and thick. Sichuan Spicy Wanton in Red Oil (5/5) Hakka Rice Noodle Soup (2/5) It would have been a good dish but the pork taste is just too strong. Donāt think Iāll order it again. Railway Porkchop Bento (4/5) Boo Choy with Minced Meat (4/5)
I hope that they get to reopen the store again one day. I canāt order them as frequently as I have wished because Ubereats makes it unusually expensive!
All dishes are 3$ more expensive from the Ubereats menu. On top of that I have to pay 8.24% tax fee + 16% service fee + 15% tip + 3%...
