Our first night at the hotel we decided to eat here for dinner. Upon walking into the restaurant area, we saw a huge buffet area lined up. We were seated and looking over our menus and didnt see a buffet option. We asked our server and she said it was the "country buffet" for $17.50. Well after peeking at it and seeing there was coconut shrimp, fried chicken, pork loin, mashed potatoes, and tons of dessert options, we thought it was a great deal since a single dinner was around $18 dollars anyways. We got 4 buffets and one person ordered a cheeseburger. We went up to the buffet, got our first rounds and ate it. The potato salad was absolutely delicious (the only reason for the 1 star). We finished our plates. Went up for seconds (the main course). We each got some of everything. The coconut shrimp was tiny, cold, and wet. While I was sitting there eating this nasty shrimp, I watched a woman at the table next to us get the coconut shrimp dinner and her shrimp had to be 4 times the size of mine and SO fresh looking. I understand I was eating off a buffet, but why is is my food a lesser quality then what is on the menu? The fried chicken was horrible. None of us could eat it. Are we used to good chicken, maybe. But even KFC is 10 times better than this nasty stuff. Plus, it was steaming in the tray so add wet and soggy on top of bland, flavorless, and just weird. The breading was not normal. The pork loin was fine. We all just though maybe it was the food steaming that was bad and that dessert would be the saving grace. Well going up to the dessert area is like if you just cut up 15 different cakes and put one slice on each plate and left it all on your kitchen table for hours. My one piece of cake had a dead bug on it. Nothing was covered or protected. It was all dry, warm (warm cheesecake, gross), and just bad. No chilling area to keep it cold, no cover to keep it fly free. It was like their first time trying out the buffet thing and it was just bad. The drinks were great though. We all got something different. Small and pricey but it's a name brand resort restaurant so that's to be expected. The family member that got the cheeseburger was forgotten about. We were on dessert when the burger finally came out. She ordered medium. What she got was a dry chunk of meat that had not one single drop of juice coming out of it. Our server also disappeared. We found that she was assigned a huge table upstairs and couldn't get to us. Why they would send someone elsewhere is beyond me. She was also extremely cold. My dad mentioned we were celebrating my 25th birthday as I was ordering my drink and all she said was "I still need to ID you". Cold and rude. Never said happy birthday or did anything special. Even after our horrible experience and her being absent for our meal. Horrible management, horrible service,...
Read moreI gave JB’s Boathouse a two star review purely on the fact that service was the only thing that didn’t make me give it a one. Scott our server was awesome and even the restaurant supervisor came by and talked to our daughter, brought her some crayons and a coloring sheet.
The food is where this goes south. The prices are way too high for the quality that comes out. We are on vacation and I decided to just go for it and buy a $28 12-ounce ribeye. Not a good cut of meat, mostly fat, pretty grey but actually cooked to my liking. All in all it just wasn’t worth $28 when I can buy a better quality steak for $10 at Walmart and make it myself and cook it better with the sides. Wife for a Mushroom Swiss Burger, for $12 she said it was just alright, which is fine. Daughter got mad and cheese and she wouldn’t eat it because it was mush and looked like microwaved shredded cheese on top.
All the food came out cold as well.
Without Scott this would have been a one...
Read moreI noticed a few bad reviews for this place but I’m not sure those people were at JB’s Boathouse though. We had anything but a bad experience. I will admit it was tricky to find this place but worth the drive. Our waitress Jenny was friendly and quick to greet our table. We ordered specialty drinks. I loved the “5 o’clock somewhere” drink and my husband got some banana drink that was pretty good. Our food was out pretty quick despite a pretty busy dining area for this Saturday lunch. I ordered the fish tacos and so did my friend. My husband ordered the fish & chips and my other friend ordered the sandwich. We all loved our food! I highly recommend trying this place out. The bowling alley and arcade are in the same building so there’s plenty...
