I am new to Alabama, and I just feel like the food here in the state, is not good.. Maybe it's a cultural thing, maybe it's because folks don't know any better, but the Mexican food especially in Alabama is horrible... I stopped at this place to have dinner with my wife, we sat down, it was busy, and seemed like a good spot... Then you start looking at the menu and the ingredients that are listed and there's just something off about each dish. I ordered a fajita quesadilla.. They have mushrooms listed as an ingredient. Super weird, you don't really see mushrooms in Mexican food anywhere, I've never seen that but no problem, i told the waitress to please leave the mushrooms out.. no biggie. Our food arrives... Sure enough as a ton of mushrooms , yay.. The cheese is not normal....it's not Monterey Jack, it's not Mexican shredded cheese. Its not the awesome quesoada.... its a creamy queso-dip-swiss combo, sweet and just..gooey. not in a good way. A cheese enchilada, same thing.. just.. runny gross sweet cheese. Another dish we ordered was tortilla soup, it was just.. raw uncooked veggies, in a cold goo. Overall, really really bad food. Maybe it's good to the local community? I have no idea but I would steer clear...

I don’t know where to start- with the food or with the service! I was greeted and seated immediately and Nestor, my waiter, was awesome!! Friendly, very enthusiastic, made great recommendations, and I could just tell he absolutely loves his job. His happy attitude was contagious and much needed during my lunch break from work. He also provided very quick and attentive service. Kudos! Now to the food, these were the best birria tacos I’ve ever had! The shells were crisp, the meat was sooooo tender and seasoned to perfection, and they did NOT skimp on portions! I can usually eat 4 or 5 tacos, but I was full before I could finish my third taco here. I wish I had thought to take a picture of the inside of the tortillas but they were stuffed, I promise. The consume was flavorful! I took off one star because the margarita I chose wasn’t the best (strawberry mixed with peach) but it was still refreshing and because the chorizo dip had way too much chorizo for my liking. I’m here in Mobile for the week due to work and I’m contemplating going back to Bariachi before I leave. Thank...

We sat outside because inside was full due to social distancing which should have been a good sign. The salsa tasted like a can of chopped tomatoes with no seasoning. Not the way I wanted to start off. Our waitress was asked by ladies sitting close to us if they could smoke and she said it was fine if other customers didn’t mind and then walked away leaving “other customers” (me and my daughter) to sit with smoke blowing our direction. Then our food was brought out by someone other than our waitress and they didn’t ask if we needed any tea (glasses were empty) and the waitress never showed back up. After eating over half the meal without anything to drink I went inside to ask if I could have more. Needless to say, I’ll keep looking for a Mexican restaurant to enjoy. Two stars came from chicken fajita it had a good flavor although tortilla...

So today turned out to be a comfort food type of day. Wifey suggested we try the new Birria Tacos at Bariachi Mexican Kitchen. I've heard the buzz about these tacos and after seeing a few videos on how they're made, I put them on my must try list. Now, I don't ever recall my Grandmother making tacos, but if she ever did they would probably taste something like these. The best way to describe these tacos is: Imagine your Madear's tender pot roast with cheese, onions and herbs in a taco with a shell that was dipped in the broth for flavor and then fried to crispy perfection on a skillet. THEN the broth which is infused with dried peppers and other seasonings is used as a dipping sauce. All I can say is that I don't look at tacos the same; they can most definitely be a hardy, soulful meal that your Grandma would cook.

Me and my partner really enjoyed the food. We have been to a lot of Mexican spots and the cheese dip and salsa was great. My partner doesn’t usually eat salsa but he ate there so that says a lot. I also had a strawberry (frozen) margarita it was good considering a bartender was not on sight so the waitress made drinks which is why it wasn’t in the right glass. I went to try the birria tacos since a lot of places only sell them on certain days. However, they sell there throughout the week. It was good you can taste slightly cinnamon or star anise flavoring. I would have liked a little spicy but still worth the try. My partner had a steak quesadilla was nicely cooked and not greasy. He said the beans were alright and rice could’ve had more seasoned. Will be going back to try other menu options.
