I visited Big Time Diner for the first time this evening, about an hour ago. I ordered by phone and requested curb-side pickup. I ordered two roast beef dinners for my husband and I. Additionally, I ordered an extra side of Mac N Cheese. When my order was brought to my car, there was only one plate. I didn’t have time to wait for them to fix another, so I added a tip, signed the receipt, and left. Mistakes happen, right? When I got home and split the single plate with my husband, I noticed the Mac n Cheese was not in my bag. I was charged for that. We then sat down to eat and discovered that out roast beef was COLD. I called and spoke to Nicole, the manager on duty. When I told her about the cold meat she instantly treated like a liar. She said she couldn’t confirm that my meat was actually cold. I tried to reason with her about the absurdity of her suggestion that I drive 14 miles each way for her to check to see if my meat was actually cold. It was almost an hour later at that point. Of course it would be cold by the time I took it back. At any rate, I was getting nowhere with her and was beginning to feel highly offended. There was no voice raising or heated conversation of any type. I don’t waste energy or become emotional over cold meat. So I asked for the name of the General manager. Hopefully when I call to speak to him, he’ll treat me less like a criminal and more like a dissatisfied customer. I do not recommend...
Read moreMy wife and I were roaming around and decided it was time for lunch. I had been hearing about Big Time Diner quite a bit lately so decided to give them a go. My expectations were probably a bit tainted by the fact that I’m a native New Yorker where diners are a bit of an experience. If your experiences are similar in reference to diners, then you may be disappointed in Big Time Diner. Don’t get me wrong, the experience was pleasant enough but the menu was considerably shorter than one would expect from a classic diner. The decor is typical classic diner but the one page lunch menu isn’t. After being seated, I ordered a Cheeseburger and Fries and my wife ordered the Club Sandwich which also came with Fries. Our meals were good but not outstanding. Nothing wrong with that necessarily, just not worth considerable hype. Our waitress was attentive without over doing it, the servings large enough and prices reasonable. Overall, I would recommend Big Time Diner if you happen to be in the area and are in the mood for something that’s more than fast food but less than something that will take a while. The food is decent if not brag worthy. The same could be said for the...
Read moreLet me start off by saying I have been to BTD 4 times in 6 months. I mean, it's "a magnet for those seeking blue-plate specials...." Each time I went I always chalked the service/food up to it being an off or bad day for whatever reason and would give it another try. This place is old. IMO it needs new (or updated) EVERYTHING. The service I received each time was what you would expect from a restaurant who hires younger waitstaff and kitchen help. The parking is so small my truck doors were hit each time I've been there. The womens bathroom is horrendous. I suggest you hold it and bring your own handwipes and bypass it all together. The food is barely consumable and is cold, still frozen or almost warm when it gets to the table. Is it clean, you ask? Each time I went I saw a server use the same towel to wipe "at" several tables. Not once was the towel wet or was there a cleaning solution sprayed on the tabletop, chairs or bench seats. I would clean my table and seat before I sat down. Their glass doors however were fingerprint free and...
