Cammie's Old Dutch has become a beloved institution in Mobile, Alabama, renowned for its delightful assortment of ice cream treats. Established in 1956, this charming ice cream parlor has consistently delivered delicious, homemade flavors that cater to a wide range of tastes and preferences. The original building on Old Shell Road, a beloved landmark in our community, is undeniably showing its age. The weathered façade, with its peeling paint and crumbling brickwork, tells tales of decades gone by, each crack and crevice a testament to the passage of time. Though its current state may appear dilapidated to some, it holds a nostalgic charm for many who recall its heyday. Stop by for a banana split or a chocolate malt milkshake. It is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Sweet ice cream, Alabama! Driving through Mobile, we made one stop: Old Dutch Ice Cream. Perfect way to cool off from the heat, be sure you check the flavors in both coolers: they have more flavors than those listed on the board! Fabulous and friendly staff offered multiple samples. I decided on 2 scoops in a bowl: Biscoffi and Cappuccino Chocolate. My husband had a waffle cone with 2 flavors: Chocolate Cookies & Cream and Cookie Dough. It was all creamy, fresh, and delicious. Recommended to us by a friend who grew up in Mobile - passing that recommendation on to you! PS. Really enjoyed driving through the historic neighborhood otw to Water Street. Be sure to see the fort with the city as it’s backdrop.

For starters, this place was PACKED and yet it didn't take any time at all to get everyone taken care of. The variety of ice cream was huge! The girl that helped us was so sweet and helpful. This was our first time hear and even I could barely keep track of our order with all the "chaos" going on. Then, I see the seating. The tiny little heart shaped chairs were so cute and dainty looking, they aren't supposed to be this comfortable. Me and my son sat in comfort and enjoyed our ice cream in a wonderful atmosphere. We drove an hour to get here and it was 100% worth the drive. We WILL be back, just wish I knew it would be sooner than it will be.

I grew up going to Old Dutch, it was and always will be a fond memory of my childhood. But as time moves on, so does quality of customer service. We stopped in last night at about 7 30 on a Thursday evening, 5 employees, no line, slow night I guess, lots of cell phones out, no one wearing masks, a blonde hair girl trying to figure out if the coke machine is working properly. She came to the conclusion it was not properly mixing the syrup, water and CO2, then still continued to make my coke float with it. I asked if the machine was working properly and she said no do you want me to make you a new one with a can of coke? I figured that would be a no question kind of thing 🤷‍♂️. She then made a new one for me, coke float, and added just a splash of coke from the can she opened, put a lid on it and handed it to me. Thanks for the 3 scoop in a tall cup with a straw. Then an off the clock employee walked in, took everyone who was working attention and shortly after a girl that was in line came in and yelled at him if he was working or not, then stormed back out. I get that high school jobs are meant to be fun, but these kids are walking all over your wonderful name you've spent the last 40 years or so building. We most likely won't be back...

I was very disappointed yesterday, I was visiting in Mobile and took my kids to Cammie's. This is a place I had frequented as a child and all through the years growing up and taken my older boys. The place is so dirty. I understand it is old and that is fine but to see the floor cluttered with debris, sprinkles and nuts. The tables not wiped down at all with old ice cream all over them dried in. The kids left to run it was not even clean cut. They were missing half of their flavors of ice cream and my favorite one of course "daiquiri ice" was gone. The labels for the ice cream were dirty old stickers. Someone could take the time and print them from a computer on clear sticker paper at least. My how the years have taken its toll on this old land mark in Mobile. I can say I will not be back. I would rather remember all the great times of stopping in and having a nice delicious cone and enjoy the old dutch look of a...

I don't have any photos yet. I visited there in my Central time zone today, not yesterday. The atmosphere in an ice cream shop is just fun because you are there to have fun and enjoy the ice cream and the people. Today a Sunday, the shop gets a lot of business. Old people, young people, kids, almost everybody likes the ice cream and there are so many different varieties. The lady serving me today was so very nice and helpful that I really appreciated it. And things get busy & they all are working hard to keep up with the orders. I like to give them a good tip when I pay my bill. And I quit using my credit card here when I realized the owner saying that it was costing her quite a bit. Glad to help the ice cream lady out, I pay cash. This shop has been here many years and decades. The former owner was well-known here and Cammie has done a great job of continuing the local tradition of great ice cream...
