I don't know if they were having an "off" night or what but from beginning to end we had a bad experience. We stood to wait for a table and the hostess was right beside us but we never heard our name called. She said she called us..which could have very well happened...but she didn't say our name very loud if we were standing right beside her and couldn't hear her and she didn't repeat it. She didn't seem apologetic at all and looked at us like we were stupid. Our server was very nice but seemed a bit scattered. We were seated with no silverware. My salad was brought and I had to sit and wait for a fork. I was told there were none "rolled". My husband got up and said they were sitting at the front ready to go. Once our food came, the server had forgotten to put our oyster order in so we just canceled that....though that is one of the main reasons we chose to go here. My husband was already beside himself due to the crappy service thus far and no apologies whatsoever. Then his shrimp was hard like rubber. As we waited for our check, my son was cut by a staple from the trim on the table coming loose where he sat. It just put the icing on the cake so to speak. For a meal that coat us $50+, we were stressed the entire time and felt like we were an absolute after thought and incovenience. The staff all seemed unorganized Something was just off. The whole facility was dirty. We will...

When I am near the coast, that means one thing, SEAFOOD. Wintzells is a chain restaurant that started from an oyster bar very near here. It is always a good bet for seafood. Today I opted for something different than my usual O.J. platter. I arrived in time for happy hour and besides drinks, they have food specials too. You can get a dozen raw for a buck a piece as well as other appetizers. I chose the smoked tuna dip since I have never had it. I found it to be okay with a nice Smokey flavor but a little heavy on the sodium. I think adding some additional flavors like sweet pickle relish or something to support the smoke but suppress the salt would be better. For my entree, I went with the Low Country Boil. A steamed mixture of shrimp, red skinned potatoes, smoked sausage and corn on the cob. Overall it was executed perfectly, though the corn was a little over cooked. But then, you're not eating it for the corn. The potatoes and shrimp were cooked perfectly, though I wish that it had been prepared with some Old Bay or other spice. Even with out the spice the smoked sausage added a little kick and the shrimp was good and tasted fresh. This close to the Gulf you would hope so. In your travels, if you see one, a Wintzell's is a...

Food is exceptional, as for the oysters, glad this place in particular exists because they are the best I’ve been served. The service isn’t a life changing experience but it’s notable that staff do a good job making things easy and comfortable. Though, a recent incident makes me concerned, since us guys generally want to be protective of those we care about. Our vulnerable elderly, friends, family, our women and children.

The incident was nothing of grand chaos, but, was received by the business in a way it should not have been, a shameful way you would not expect any leader to handle a business who deal direct with public, and should of been more cooperative with the public when the concerns were presented to Yolanda. Quite a shame Yolanda did her best to interfere with a investigation based off how she “felt” with no understanding of what was going on, severity was clear but she obstructs the people in good faith who commit to their work all over the country with excellent results to show for it, her IQ REALLY shows here, great job miss, there’s not just something wrong with the guy who works there messing with kids, but there’s definitely something wrong...

Had to get some oysters while I was down in Mobile visiting. Luckily they had Wintzell's Oyster House on the way to the airport that I could drop by and get some oysters before I left. I wasn't too hungry so just stuck with the cup of gumbo and the oyster sampler platter. I should have gone with a bowl of gumbo. That was one delicious gumbo and I could easily just have that for dinner. So good. Somehow I thought it was different kinds of raw oysters with the sampler but it came with 4 different kinds of sauce and cooked oyster. Each of them were very good and I'm glad that I got to try them all. Overall, if you are visiting this place is definitely worth the stop if you want some oysters or southern seafood before leaving.

Came down from Virginia, ended up coming to this restaurant twice. Very clean, and very friendly staff(even if you come right at last call). The food is excellent!! First off try the Gumbo, it is delicious. As far as safe home foods, can't go wrong with the fried green tomatoes (classic). Very flavorful sauce! As for the Oysters, Shrimp, and catfish that I tried, I'd order it again and again. Fried Oyster and shrimp weren't over cooked and tasted on point. And the catfish was juicy and plentiful. Cajan rice and and Okra were great complementary sides for a delicious southern seafood dinner. Ps. Thank you Stephen for the great recommendations and taking care of us so late for my Birthday dinner. See y'all next time!!
