Dulce Mia Cakes — Restaurant in Modesto

I want to address a few things about my experience with this establishment. I ordered a custom cake via email. A custom cake that would match up to this reference photo attached but the only difference would be two identical sheep instead of a pig. To put it simply, it wasn’t what I received. Instead, after I brought it to their attention I was only met with clear response showcasing I was responsible for faulty communication in what I wanted. As well as their response saying it is exactly two identical sheeps but just the same colors as the reference photo. To me as well as to my peers, I think we can respectfully acknowledge it’s not two identical sheep as asked. It’s clearly a sheep and a pig. That’s what I didn’t appreciate the most about this experience. Like I entirely understand the efforts and detail it takes to make such cake but when something is a costly order is not how you want, it will be addressed. Mistakes happen, I get it! It’s the lack of acknowledgement in their mistake what disappointed me. I’m leaving the photo reference, the cake form that state design details, and outcome and leave it up to public’s discretion. If you do order from this establishment, I hope you aren’t held accountable for an issue you discovered if you happen to find a mistake on your order, especially if it’s for a very important occasion.

In response to comment: Just to be clear for everyone, I wasn’t the one who picked up the cake. So any compliments made at pickup don’t reflect my actual thoughts, my pickup person isn’t aware of the details I asked for. Thats between the establishment and the client which is why I emailed the same day, should not be anyone but myself. An offer of 15 refund on a $190 order with a visible error is more like a joke. So no, I didn’t accept it. But thank you for your review and again I hope clients aren’t responded to the same way I was treated for bringing up a mistake....

The croissants were perfectly flaky and buttery, the artisanal bread had a satisfying crust and a soft, airy interior, and their Tres Leches cakes are to die for. You can taste the quality ingredients and the dedication in every single bite. It's so refreshing to find a bakery that still honors traditional baking methods.

Beyond the incredible food, the atmosphere is simply fantastic. It's warm, inviting, and clearly designed to make you feel right at home. The decor is charming, there's always a gentle buzz of happy customers, and the lighting is just right for enjoying a coffee and a treat. It's the kind of place where you want to linger, whether catching up with friends or simply enjoying a moment of peace.

The staff are also incredibly friendly and enthusiastic, always ready with a smile and helpful recommendations. Their passion for what they do is evident and adds to the overall delightful experience.

From the moment we met with Iris for our consultation at the shop, we knew we were in great hands. She made the process of selecting our cake flavors and design incredibly smooth and stress-free. Iris also clearly explained the pricing, which helped us stay on budget without compromising quality. We had visited two other bakeries before Dulce Mia, and neither came close to the level of professionalism and warmth Iris provided. When we left our consultation, it felt like a huge weight had been lifted off our shoulders. You can tell Iris and her family genuinely care about their craft and their clients.
