Outback Steakhouse — Restaurant in Modesto

UPDATE: Friday, March 21, 2025 PM LISSA is the best server we’ve had in a long long time. We eat out a lot. Almost every day. Lissa remembered us from last time we were there…months ago. She even remembered our orders and what we like. She anticipated our needs. We never had to ask for anything! If you want an amazing dining experience, ask for her section. For an appetizer we had the Bloomin’ Shrimp. Very good. My son ordered the 6 ounce fillet with mashed potatoes and enjoyed his meal. I started with the French onion soup which is the BEST in the area. Rich tasty broth and lots of good gooey cheese !Anytime it’s offered that’s what I order and they do an excellent job here. Ask for it extra toasty or sometimes the cheese looks anemic. I ordered the same thing that I had last time…sirloin with a half rack of ribs. I won’t be ordering this again. The steaks at Texas Roadhouse are better. More tender and better seasoned. The ribs here are good except they hold them too long. They come out warm and dried out. I won’t take a chance on that dinner again. I’ll look for something else on the menu. I’m sure we will be back. We drive 35 miles to eat at this restaurant ! ——————- UPDATE: Saturday, August 3, 2024 Lissa is the best server! I believe we’ve had her three times in a row now. Every time we go in we ask for her section. The Bloomin’ fried shrimp are really good. The French onion soup is some of the best around. The Bloomin’ fried chicken breast was just OK. I would not re-order it. The salad was good. Our glasses with water and soda were NEVER empty!🥰 Thanks, Lissa‼️

—————————— LISSA… the best server we have had in a restaurant in a long time!. Top notch. If there is any doubt about the dining experience, Lissa pushes it over the top! Quite attentive without hovering. Our glasses were always full… Ice tea, soda, water! Ask for her section! I had the 9 ounce sirloin with the half a rack of ribs. The ribs were OK. Evidently they precooked them and hold them for a while. I’ve had better. I’ve had worse. Now for the steak… I’ve had better. The steak needs some flavoring/seasoning and it also needs to be tenderized/aged more. The steak is better at Texas Roadhouse. The French onion soup…the best I’ve had in a long time. I usually order French onion soup whenever it’s offered and this was really good‼️ My son likes Outback. It is one of his favorite restaurants. He ordered the Kingsland pasta with steak and shrimp. Second time he’s had that in a couple of months. He enjoyed his meal. The bread with lots of butter is good. The iced tea was great. I’m sure we will be back but I will try to find something other than the sirloin steak to order. It’s sad that I have to say that says Outback is basically...

My waitress was perfect! 5 stars for her!! And she tipped substantially. As I almost ALWAYS do. That being said... I have done hundreds of reviews and THIS IS MY FIRST NEGATIVE REVIEW AND I FELT GUILTY SO I WAITED. This was my bf's bday supper. And he's and introvert. I could not be more disappointed. My order was a fully loaded sweet potato, meaning, the regular stuff they bring which is brown sugar and Marshmello or something. I asked to still include this, but please give me the loaded potato toppings as well. I assured her that it was ok, and I know that I may be charged extra for this. It's fine. She clearly understood and all was well in the world. We received our H'orderves and they were both on point. The meals: Not so much. We both ordered steak. Neither had much flavor. So bland. His supper was steak, loaded baked potato and mixed veggies. Steak was supposed to be medium and was cooked to the point it was dry. I actually still have it cuz I froze it in a Ziploc bag. My old pittie is getting as a treat tonight after I grind it up for her so she doesn't choke, seriously. Baked potato was hard as a rock, unedible. Veggies were great. Then my plate. My potato was so cooked it was gushy inside and watery? Idk. And only had the sugar. I asked them nicely just to get the toppings and add it. The manager was walking by and I told her and also said I'm not trying to get a free meal. She didn't seem concerned and moved on. Got it back. Looked like it was scraped off and new toppings, still not even close. Worst part is, we both got diarrhea. The next day, at work, I work in surgery, I threw my steak in the microwave while I went pee. I walked back into the lounge to hear,"what's that smell? Smells like rotten meat!?" It was my leftover steak. I'm done. This was over $100. between the meal and the $35. tip. My waitress was the only reason I didn't pull a Karen. Plus it was his bday.

Addendum: I saw the owner response below. I'm not sure too much could be done at this point. Maybe try to keep the steak fresher. We will...

I would personally give it a zero but there’s no zero for a star!! Our waitress took our order in the beginning and disappeared the rest of the meal, then decided to take our $34.00 left on our gift card and keep it for a tip🤬!!! she never checked in on us to see if we needed refills, hell I had to ask a different waitress for a refill and more sauce, then ask the same waitress for our check after waiting for 30 minutes and still never saw our original server/waitress. No explanation as to where our waitress went!! The second and more helpful server took our gift cards but disappeared as well after that. As we waited for receipt, etc… another 10-15 minutes go by, no sign of anyone so I approached the manager about her behavior and how we’ve been waiting for a response, it was then that she just assumed the remainder of the credit was hers. In response when we should have $33 and change coming back, her resolution is giving me $30 cash. Very unprofessional from my point of view, and I got an apology from the manager and he proceeded to tell me he told her we left!! 😑 Both seem way too incompetent for their jobs/positions. I have a few friends who own their own restaurant and wouldn’t stand for this kind of service. The point is to get you in and out, and when we were pinched for time they kept us there! I have nothing to say badly about the food/cook's or the other employees just the manager and the waitress we had!! I don’t have her name she never gave it of course 😑 but she has a partial ring finger with a long ring on it to cover it. So be careful she is scandalous!! It is bad management!! We cold have walked out without paying and nobody even know!!😠 this is not how you run a restaurant!! Oh and not to mention we were there from 5:15 pm till 6:30 pm we were done eating at 5:45 that is way to long not to mention not being checked in on to see if we were happy with our food or refilling our drinks and wanted dessert!
