Don’t Even know where to start. I will remain respectful and honest in my review. I visited the Prescott Modesto Location today, for dinner approximately (4-4-24) @ 5:45PM, the buffet was packed as was their parking lot, as always. I approached the cashier and politely greeted her, she did the same, respectfully. I kindly asked her what is the price for 1 buffet? She said $21 without a drink, I said ok that’s fine but how much for 1 to-go box? She said it by weight, an outrageous price of 8.61 per pound, I figured well “cost of business” I gather. Sadly when I brought her my to-go box the lady weighed it, and said $21 dollars ok? And I declined, I said no that is not ok, that’s the price for your table service buffet.. without a drink. But she charged me anyways.. ignoring me. Completely. Mind you I was polite the entire time. In what world is a single to-go price the same price as their buffet? Apparently, this place conducts business practice in this regard. I don’t get it, they are always getting business do to the Spanish community and otherwise and that’s fine and dandy, but why attempt to rip off potential new customers that work hard in the same area? Needless to say there IS something wrong when a single to-go box is as much as an individual Buffet, without the drink.. Greed is becoming and should not be priority, a service you do but adjustment in this regard should be handled accordingly. The food was sub-par. Fried rice were lumps of left over rice, which is fine because that’s how good fried rice is made except that, this fried rice was dried out in lumps with nothing else in it but vegetable oil. Hardly any color, egg or other ingredients. Uncle Rodger would be sad if he ate here.. with all due respect that’s what I wanted the most, a good plate of fried rice. I cannot in good conscious recommend your establishment. Wish I could. With inflation and cost of living skyrocketing I get the higher charges, but when one thing differs from the other, adjustments should be made accordingly to avoid being called nothing...
Read moreMe and my band ate here and we are going to make it a regular stop-in when we pass thru town.
The food has been consistent since they were at the old location. Me and my buddies consumed whole trays of Crab Rangoon... and they kept on coming!
The chicken sticks are like a grilled jerk chicken kabob. I go in on the soups everytime. 🍲 there's usually 3-4 varieties to enjoy. Always perfectly heated.
The pork ribs are fire af. 🔥 and the noodles and rice are a nice coupling with any of the hot food mixes ... steak and broccoli, shrimp and mushrooms, orange chicken, mixed seafood, or baby calamari.
There's chicen nuggets 🍕 and fries for the childlike humans. And sometimes there's other lame American alternatives to the delicious stuff for the bland life.👶 But hey even boring people have to eat too.
The dessert table is my favorite part. They always have cake, cookies, little brownies, soft serve, and some kind of mousse. Strawberry or Mocha. I suggest you try them all, really.🍨🍧🍦🍰🧁🍮 it's legit. Reminds me of a good Vegas or Reno buffet.
Sidenote...the sweet steamed buns and pudding are over at the salad bar, kinda low key stashed lol
The customer service has always been amazing. Every time. You can tell the servers there are there to take care of you and keep your drink glasses full!
The lunch is under $20 with a bottles soda pop. The dinner is under $25. I can do about 4-5 full plates...plus 3 soups and a dessert plate. But that's me. Some of the guys in the group had 3 plates. Some guys had 75 Crab Rangoon lol.
I don't think they sell beer or wine. Never have wanted to fill up on a beer during a buffet, but that's me lol
They have great tap water though and the sodas are...
Read moreUpdate two years later, figured that maybe things had changed for the better. Things have changed, unfortunately, for the worse.
A group of us stopped by for dinner, and our checks were grouped together, and an automatic 10% was added to the total. We were never asked if there were going to be separate checks or pretty much anything.
The business practices are atrocious.
I do understand that businesses must make ends meet. Price gouging should not be one of them.
2021 Visit Notes: We used to go to the old location several years ago but stopped due to another business opening closer to the house. Which declined after being renamed, like 5 times...
Anyways the food was tatsy and we only ended up with one bad item.
A rib, they were cooked, just not enough.
We all went back several times, and just about every item was sampled, all were good except the ribs.
They have a large selection of gluten-free items and Soy free items, which was a huge bonus.
The men's room was unhygienic, which is why the four stars.
Update 06/18/2021 We stopped here for lunch today around 1pm and finished up around 140pm.
Long story short, the steam tables were not as full and fresh as we have experienced previously.
The roughest part? We were overcharged for our lunch today.
The person that rang us up charged for 1 lunch and 1 dinner and 2 waters. 28.03
Which sadly, will be the last time.
I understand that businesses need to "make up for lost income**," it's unfortunate that businesses take advantage of people.
**COVID-19 shutdown...
