AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS Where to start... We arrived to this Ramada after a LONG day of travel. We were “welcomed” by a very curt guy at the front desk. Nothing welcoming, just “what name?” Then he proceeds to tell me that he needs my card for incidentals- that’s fine, no biggie. But he doesn’t tell me how much! $20? $50? $100? $500? (I guess I’m just weird and like to know how much is being charged to my card...) I asked for a room on the top floor & was informed that one wasn’t available (Another minor thing- but it’ll come up again in this “adventure”) We get a room in the back of the building- so we drive around, park & take all of our stuff to our room. Oh. My. Lanta. That room was disgusting. I could find sleeping accommodations under a bridge cleaner than that mess. The carpet had a grimy feel to it- endless spots all over it. One of the pillows had a dried/“washed” bloodstain on it. The bathroom was equally gross- the walls were peeling, the shower rack was falling off the wall, pretty sure there was mold on the ceiling, the towels were grimy and tinted with dirt, the water took forever to heat up and the bath was DIRTY. (I took photos to back up these claims.) After taking into account the mess we’re stuck with- I called the company I booked this room through- instead of helping me find somewhere else- they say the manager will come by to speak with us. The night manager- who is far more pleasant than the guy that checked us in, offers us a room upstairs (So- when I asked for one at check in 30 minutes ago- there wasn’t one available? But in that 30 minutes, one magically appeared?) It wasn’t anything better than what we currently had- so it was decided basically “screw it- we’ll keep the current mess”- plus, this place didn’t have an elevator & we didn’t want to drag all of our stuff up the stairs. We were in Modesto to visit family- and we were on a strict schedule, so thankfully- we were only at this “facility” to sleep- it was a bed, a shower and a bathroom. That was it. We were uneasy with the area, so we packed up all of our stuff and took it with us during the day. Our last night there, there were several tour buses & trailers- which made parking a nightmare. The one spot close to the door had torn up garbage bags with clothes spilling out- and I didn’t want my vehicle parked near that. So we got to tote all of our stuff further than necessary, due to the buses parked vertically, using up the majority of parking. I understand that this hotel is part of the Wyndham group. I’m not sure why- Motel 6 is cleaner than this dump. I will be notifying the company I booked this reservation with, local management and corporate. This place was not worth what we paid, even at the discounted rate. Seriously- save yourself the frustration & disgust, BOOK ELSEWHERE! Go to an actual Wyndham- not this cesspool of squalor and filth. I’m just grateful I had shower shoes, Clorox wipes and my vaccinations are up to date- each were needed at this place. Lastly, if you’re traveling solo- go find something safer. The parking lot isn’t well lit & the area was...
Read moreSpacious rooms although something is always damaged (customer’s fault). Front counter folks are kind and patient. Sim, the manager really puts his people in a bad situation with his policies. They are always having issues with customers regarding holds. I didn’t understand the problem as every hotel requires holds till later. I witnessed Sim be vulgar to several disgruntled customers. Instead of diffusing the situation, he escalated it. He really seems angry and certainly is not equipped to deal with customers. Frankly, he’s dangerous. He grabbed some mace and ran after a disgruntled customer and yelling he’s going to mace him. After my last stay when I wanted to check out and check back in, the gal said she’d have to charge another $100 hold. I was fine with that. But when I checked in, the card wasn’t going through. I check my online banking to see what the problem was. Apparently the hotel puts a combined hold for your room charge and the $100 deposit. So when I checked out, I was charged the $420 but a hold of $520 was on my account. Took several hours for office folks to get information from Sim in between checking other customers in. When I stepped outside, to wait to hear back from manager, Sim was driving off, unbeknownst to me he was on site the entire time. So I asked him about the $520 hold he yelled that he wasn’t stealing from me, he has to run a business, this is Joe everyone does it… as he’s shooing me away. I couldn’t get a word in edgewise. Did not insinuate he was stealing. He just took it to another level. He shooed me again with his hands and said he had to go. As he drove off, I said under my breathe that this was misleading, as I was trying to say the ent time he’s ranting. He stopped abruptly and tells me I’d get that money back he didn’t fool anyone, he gets screwed by customers checking out and not having funds. So I asked next time if he could do the $100 hold separately, which would help the front office folks not to deal with the added stress. So he yelled absolutely not and to call my bank if I have concerns. Welp I went back inside to finish my check in for just one night instead of 2. By the time I walked back in, Sim was on the phone with the front counter telling them that he apologizes for yelling at me and if I don’t have enough for tonight to make sure they charge me one night anyhow. What a nasty human being.
Later I notice I’m missing stuff so I called the hotel for them to check security camera. Later I found 1 item and hoped the hotel found my other items. Not worth much, maybe about $100 in change and my pocket knife. Hope it was found not lost or stolen. When I came back into town and checking in, Sim put me on Do Not Rent list. So bizarre and he’s just so miserable, it’s...
Read moreThis place has TERRIBLE accommodations and even WORSE customer service. Here's the overview of my 2 day experience. I booked and paid online, got here and there was an extra $100 fee that get's held for 10 days after you leave according to the managers words. I get through the miserable checkin experience and he tells me to drive around back because there's a door closer to my room. So, I drive around back, gather all of my bags and discover that my key card hasn't been activated. So, I have to go BACK to the front, and get a new key card which STILL DOESN'T WORK!!! I finally get inside because of a nice stranger who let me in. I'm dragging my bags around and discover that there's NO ELEVATOR anywhere so I have to physically carry my bags up the stairs. Finally, I get to the room, which is absolutely horrible. The window shades were broken, THREE OUT OF FOUR lamps are BROKEN!!! When I called the front to ask them to fix just ONE of the lamps, the girl said the manager (named SIM) would be up in 30 minutes. An HOUR later, I called the front desk again to see when he would be arriving. GET THIS - she said, "oh, sorry. The manager couldn't come in for personal reasons." I just saw this guy at Winco next door an hour and a half before this so I know damn well he wasn't sick. Trying to be reasonable, I said "okay...can we get a new lamp? The room is dark and this is insane." She said, no, but we can move you to another room. I have a ton of stuff in here and it's a TOTAL pain to move the room so I said, "I'd like to just get a new lamp and that's much easier than moving all of my stuff." She called the manager AGAIN and he said NO. I actually CAN'T GET A LAMP?!!! I spoke with Sim the night before and he has the personality and customer service of a gray rock so I should have expected this. But damn, the rooms are trash, the customer service is aweful, and you can be sure I will NEVER stay here again. This hotel is in desperate need of a revamp and new management. I have stayed at the La Quinta and the Holiday Inn Express here and both of those hotels are WAY better - especially considering they're roughly the same price. If you've ever stayed in an even somewhat decent hotel before, you will SERIOUSLY regret your decision...
