Chef Klaus Country Cookin' — Restaurant in Mokena

Old post, updated review from October 2020. My husband and I ordered carryout. I walked in to get my food and I felt the whole room fell silent. I didn't initally pay attention until I felt an uncomfortable silence and looked up and felt a sea of White confused faces looking away from the "Elephant in the Room". I then realized I was the only Black person in there. One woman kept staring at me like I was going to rob the place. I heard whispers, I didn't like it. The food was okay, but I could tell I wasn't welcomed when the lady didn't put my food in my hand. She put my food down next to me and when I gave her my card, she put my card on the table which was further away from putting it in my hand. I don't know if it's due it being so close to Election day but honestly I felt tension standing there in the front of the restaurant simply being Black. I will not return. Update- I lowered the rating because the racism of the issue overshadowed how good the food was. People need to understand that just because you don't share the same color skin as I do that racism doesn't exist. So if you share my color, please be careful...

This is George Vlasis, Pat’s husband of 45 years. Very disappointed today with the lack of courtesy and attention from the female hostess and the front desk. Arrived today, 9/21/2019 at 2:00pm with my wife - me in a wheelchair. We had driven from Oak Lawn which is an hour round trip. Hostess ignored us as we entered hardly looking up from her phone. When we were allowed to enter the restaurant we found the only tables that would accommodate me being in a wheelchair cluttered with dirty dishes from previous customers. We asked if someone would be clearing one of the tables so we could be seated. The hostess said she would take care of it. We waited and waited. Finally went back to the hostess desk and found her talking on the phone. With that we exited the restaurant. My wife who is German cried on...

Very disappointed with the staff. The fact that they made multiple mistakes with my order is not a huge issue but, their lack of professionalism certainly is. As I attempted to explain their mistakes with my very simple order, the first staff member refused to listen to me and rudely spoke over me stating that she was not the one who took the order and they are very busy. Without warning she then handed the phone off to another equally unprofessional and rude staff member who proceeded to conduct themselves in the same way, refusing to hear me out, speaking over me and telling me that she doesn't have time to argue. Ironically enough, there was argument due their lack of listening to anything I had to say. Suffice to say that I will never patronize that...
