On July 20th I picked up this cake for my daughters birthday! I carried the very heavy cake to my car on the road down the way since there was no parking the only time I got to see the cake was while the employee was walking by and she held it so I couldn't see the top! When I got home minutes later as I was pulling the cake out of my car I seen the hand print and went right inside to call the bakery they asked for pictures which I provided with the box still stapled closed then with it open! As u can tell the box my cake was in was two small cake boxes stapled together since they don't have a proper box which in the end messed up the side of my cake and the controller on the top you think for a $140 cake they would have a proper box and since they make big cakes all the time how unprofessional it is to staple boxes together all while the employee is apologizing for messing up my cake! I wanted to buy a number 8 candle and as I was handing my $20 bill to the employee she said no take it for free I messed up your cake I said thanks then left! My hole point to this post is olde towne bakery said WE put the hand print there not THEM even tho the box was completely shut when I seen it and the only people around the cake outside the box was the employees of Olde Towne bakery! So I waited a week they said the owner was going to call me! then this morning I wake up to a message saying no one is going to call me and nothing is going to be done for this huge mistake that ruined my $140 cake we couldn't even eat cuz it was touched and my children have underling health issues and I didn't want to chance them getting sick over a HAND PRINT!! so don't go to Olde Towne bakery if you want a good cake with out hand prints! Walmart and hyvee cakes are the way to go at least u know they will taste good and be hand print free and if there is any type of mistake which I have never had in the last 7 years of birthdays I'm sure they would make it right unlike Olde...
Read moreWe had initially planned to have our wedding cake made by Olde Towne and we put down a deposit, but communication was terrible. We had a special request for our cake flavor (it wasn't anything crazy though). We went in to taste test it and it was completely wrong. It was absolutely not at all what we ordered, it was chocolate with just plain white frosting, but they insised there was no mistake making my fiancée and I feel like we were crazy. We weren't rude or yelling, just trying to make it clear this was not the right order. So, they admitted no mistake, and made several excuses (much to our discomfort and dismay), but set up another tasting. This time it just tasted really really bad. It was very bitter and tasted like someone had spilled a cleaning product on the food. It also wasn't really how my fiancée wanted it, but that was just due to miscommunication. Still, I couldn't believe that they would have given us something that tasted so bitter. I'll eat anything that's a sweet, I have a major sweet tooth, and I took one bite and could not finish it. We tried to get ahold of the baker, several times, and our email was never responded to. Finally my fiancée thought of contacting them through Facebook and they told us we'd have to wait 3 days to hear back from the Baker (who never treated us rudely or anything) but it was hard to ever get ahold of her. She told my fiancée that she could not do the passionfruit curd that we had asked for, even though we had been told before putting our down payment down, that it wouldn't be a problem. We are disappointed with our treatment and won't be recommending their service. Instead, we won't ask for our down payment back, but we will be going with CakesByKay instead. For anyone wanting a wedding cake flavor that is not just the normal basic flavors do not go to Old Towne. Once they take your money you will not feel prioritized in...
Read moreVery bad experience today with service. They were busy. There were two couples in front of me putting in future orders. After 10-15 minutes I was thinking about leaving but then one couple finally finished up. The girl helping them then took my order of a doz cookies. While she was doing this, the other girl came up to the register to get the prepayment from the couple she had been helping. The girl helping me boxed up my cookies and was standing there waiting for the girl at the register to finish. The register girl turns to her and says "I can check her out, you can help the next in line" so she did. When the register girl finished with the prepay order she walked out from behind the counter to greet a couple who were two behind me that had a toddler. She started chatting with them (obviously friends) and ignored me and the person behind me. She picked up the child, went back behind the counter and gave the child a cookie, then went back to the couple and continued chatting. The girl who originally helped me had finished with the next in line person and said to me "Didn't she check you out?" I said "No, she did not." She said "She told me she was going to." I said, "Well, she didn't." So she checked me out... While the rude worker was still behind me socializing with the people two behind me. I was in the shop for 25 minutes when it should have taken way less. I'm just wondering if that worker always gives out free cookies to her friends and chats while there is a line waiting? Is she a hired employee or the owner or relative of the owner? I like their products but the bad customer service was way...
