El Maguey — Restaurant in Moncks Corner

We have been here 3 times in the last month and all 3 times we have gotten stuck with the same waitress by the name of Javiera. I could understand if the place was packed and the service was slow, but when I say the service was SLOW, I can’t stress that enough! She is not friendly and never gets the order right! I requested cilantro upon arrival for the salsa and didn’t get it until we were done eating and I was suppose to have sour cream based on the menu item I ordered and it came on the same plate as the cilantro, again after we had already finished eating! I was only charged $1.99 for those items so the price isn’t what I don’t understand. She had 3 people in her section and the restaurant was almost completely empty. She was not friendly at all and after waiting 10 minutes for our check we had to walk to the front of the restaurant to get our ticket only to find her standing and talking. We won’t be going back again cause 3 strikes and your out! It’s sad that service is so bad from her that she can as good as the food and prices are it isn’t...

I was driving to Charleston SC, and stopped by Monks Conner to say hi to some friends. Looked up where to eat, ended up here. Initial feeling walking in, place is clean, spacious, nice decor. I sat in the bar to watch the NFL Sunday line up on 3 different big screens. I asked for the TV changed and was approached by the young manager who knew his stations and quickly found the Falcons game.

Happy I began to look through the extensive, but appetizing menu, which offers your nacho, taco, fajita style of Mexican food. Being a fan of chicken I went with the Grilled chicken quesadilla, rice, and salad. Chicken was perfectly grilled, still soft keeping moisture and melting with the cheese. We have been going to El Mag frequently for years, it's always been wonderful service and food. Last night was hands down the worst experience we've ever had. We had Angelica as our waitress, we ordered 3 waters, was not asked if we wanted a single refill the entire meal even after setting the cups on the edge of the table. We ordered an Amaretto Sour, instead of coming to the table and asking if we wanted something different bc they were out of something, they subbed in fireball and said if we don't like it we don't have to drink it. It was disgusting. We waited 45 mins for our food, a party of 10+ came in 20 mins after we did and they received their food before we did. Every single table around us was sat after us and they all received their food quickly.
