Ken's Meats & Deli — Restaurant in Monona

I grew up going to Ken’s, and I’m very happy that it’s now just a short drive from me!

My mom would always take me to Ken’s to pick out chuck roast for post roast dinners, of course you have to get their $1 chicken legs as well which is great for a easy cheap dinner night.

My partner and I really like their NY strip steaks, especially since they are on the thicker side and they let you pick out your steaks. They just have a great range of meats for you to pick out! I feel like a kid in a candy store (but it’s meat! 😂)

They always sell these super thick asparagus stalks so I always go there if we are having asparagus for dinner, and we love their muffins! I just had a one of their Lemon Poppyseed muffins today and it was so good! I usually have to split it up in to quarters because they are giant.

The service there has always been top notch in my experiences of going there, always greeted with a smile and the service is fast...

Ken's is like quaint mix between a butcher and a convenience store. My wife and I had heard that is good so we decided to stop by and it was a very cute place to visit.

I got some steak sirloins and some hamburger to to grill. I enjoyed both the steak and the burger. The burger was great on the grill and the steak was affordable and wasn't just all fatty like some butchers do.

My wife loved the options in the bakery section. She bought a cranberry apple muffin that she loved! So try one of those.

They also have donuts pies and much more.

They have a great prepared section that had some great options. Like ribs, the ribs looked so good but I'll have to get them next time.

They do have a convenience store section that has the normal Staples that you would get from a much larger grocery store that also who is very handy is very handy when you're stopping in.

Until...

First time I went there was absolutely amazing and the guy at the deli was super nice like you should be when helping paying customers. Went back today and the girl at the deli acted like she couldn't be bothered to get it right when I asked for 2 pounds of bacon, it was half a pound under and she didn't even ask if that was okay (I said 2 pounds for a reason!!) Then said it's okay if it's alil over but then it was a full pound over... smh... then said in a real sarcastic tone is that okay? I mean my god, it's not that hard to figure out I said 2 pounds not 3... I worked at a deli before and attitude like that is a great way to lose ALOT of business! Like mine which is really sad cause it's good food there but I don't want to deal with people that can't be bothered to get it right or be nice...
