My company orders from here at least once every few weeks out of convenience, and there are consistently issues with the quality of the food and the wait times. Their pizza isn't as good as Antonio's or Italian Touch, which isn't saying much. Their sandwiches pale in comparison to Sandwich King's, which is located right up the road from Sal's. I ordered sandwich with Soppressata and Mozzarella with sun dried tomatoes, and the soppressata was definitely past it's prime. It was grey in color and had an unpleasant smell. They also put roasted red peppers on my sandwich instead of what i ordered, and the liquid from the peppers completely soaked the bread. I also noticed they don't use fresh mushrooms on their pizzas and cheese steaks (they are probably canned shrooms) , which do a disservice to an otherwise decent cheese steak. I'm baffled as to how this place has this many good reviews, since everyone I know who has eaten here has at least one bad thing to say about their food, and there are many better options in the Monroe TWP area. The employees however, are always kind and courteous. If they show their food the same respect they show their customers, maybe this place would be worth patronizing...
Read moreWhile Sal's has always been the go-to place for breakfast and lunch for all our friends, they can handle so much more. My wife and I just just threw a party with our friend Leona here in Rossmoor and we had Sal cater it. We wanted it simple, but it had to be good, and Sal's delivered. Sandwiches, potato and macaroni salad plus fixings for 130 people. Sounds simple, right? But my wife and Leona wanted the sandwiches on Kaiser rolls, cut in half, individually wrapped and labeled with stickers. Everything had to be there by 5:00pm and placed in the clubhouse kitchen's refrigerators. Well, at exactly 5:00 pm the delivery arrived, everything was put where it needed to be and at the end of the night everything was devoured with everyone telling us how delicious everything was. Sal bent over backwards to work with us, and while we love to patronize a local business, if the food and service isn't good, we'd go elsewhere. I don't do many reviews but when a good review is deserved, I...
Read moreI am a critic. Not that I’m some connoisseur, but if there is something I dislike, I will be sure to criticize it. There are more 0 star reviews than 5 stars.
I have to give Sal’s a fiver. I had a pizza and randomly took a chance on the hot roast beef sandwich. I said took a chance because you never know how a roast beef sandwich will come out. Well, I am glad I did. It’s hard to describe how it is nicely done. But I know when I come again, I know this will be my go to item to order. And because both the mushroom and the sandwich are so well made, I am confident to try everything else on the menu. And eventually, I will… and go broke, not cuz they are costly. But cuz I’d be dropping a lot of greens here. Total for a slice and a halfer, $14 and change before tax. Great deal. Great food.
And the gentleman who served me, whom I assume is one of the owners if not THE owner, is super...
