I have never felt more uncomfortable in a place just to pick up food. We had ordered over the phone and wanted to check the food, was basically told no and the two ladies behind the register started whispering to each other. The lady actually responsible for ringing us up said NOTHING TO US but said to a white man behind us. "Here come on let me ring you up because they have 10 orders." Didn't ask us or anything. This was the 2nd person she rung up while she was supposed to be ringing us up. The first person she just waived up past us. Just acted as if we wasn't already standing there talking to her before he ever walked up. When it got to my personal order the lady had rung it up wrong with extra stuff on it. I told her that isn't what I ordered. She got an attitude and said whoever called the order in did. I informed the lady that I was standing beside my friend when she called in the orders and she didn't order anything extra on my plate..infact she said I didn't want the hash browns or toast. So an order that should have been about $5 turned into about $12. I told the lady I would just pay for it because we had to get back and didn't have time for them to remake something else. She took my money for the order with attitude. Hey and the lady continued whispering and looking at us. When I got back to the office that $12 plate of food was bacon eggs and a piece of sausage..SMH......the food did taste fine. It was my first time going and my...
Read moreI was traveling through Monroe for work and I always like to look for lunch spots that people like. In my search I came across Dukes. It was close and the first picture I saw looked like an awesome hamburger. So, I called in and order and headed to pick it up. Pulling in the parking lot is a free for all. For someone with OCD it would most likely drive them crazy. I found it interesting and fun. I went in and everyone was smiling, receptive and quick to help. Handing me a bag and I drink I walked back to my knowing Was carrying something good by the weight and smell coming from the bag. I found another local parking lot that was empty and pulled out one of the most beautiful burgers I have ever seen. Heavy and busting to get out of the paper wrapper. I got the Double Cheeseburger all the way as recommend on a review. Folks this burger was thick and meaty. The condiments were there to accentuate the burger not dominate it. The taste was pure heaven. If you are a carnivore this is your place to come. It was two hamburger steak patties on a bun. Without a doubt this was in the top 3 burgers I have ever eaten. And I have eaten them across the country. Someone else's review now comes to mind. It read if you are within 100 miles you need to come here. I second that statement emphatically. It's simple and inexpensive. But it's a...
Read moreI have loved Duke’s Grill for years but today changed my experience. I completely understand the phone policy and fully respect it. I was in there picking up food for my grandparents and my grandfather called me which usually only he does with emergencies. Usually places don’t have these policies which isn’t great because you should be able to enjoy a meal without a phone call but the human brain is so use to automatically answering the phone even though there is warnings and we don’t automatically read all the warnings on the wall in every place we walk in. Soon as I answered it a lady came running at me and pointed a finger in my face and yelling at me rudely that I would have to take it outside. It was like she got enjoyment off of it. She could have said it nicely without the yelling and the pointing for the first offense. They also should know what an emergency feels like knowing that they just had one recently theirselves. That shows that they do not have a great customer service, a Christian or friendly atmosphere, and could show a little more grace when reminding people of their policy. It isn’t like everyone makes a daily trip to their restaurant. It could have been my very first time. Treating customers like they are less than humans...
