Lichee Gardens Monroe — Restaurant in Monroe

We're new to the area and decided to check out this place because the reviews were decent. Unfortunately I was extremely let down! While I do give the owner credit for refunding me for my order that I was extremely displeased with I also figured I would let other people know my experience so they don't run into the same issues I did.

I've ordered takeout at so many different restaurants and never have I encountered my food to be swimming in sauce as much as it was at this particular location. My husband ordered almond chicken as he does every single time we ordered takeout and never have we received anything even remotely close to what we received here. It smells atrocious and tasted about the same as it smelled. My kids who are very young and picky wouldn't even touch the sweet-and-sour chicken and that is one of their all-time favorite meals. The chicken fried Rice was completely flavorless and dry.

I have to say that when I called to complain it was handled very well and I did receive a refund upon bringing the food back however it's definitely not a place I would order from again nor a place that I would recommend.

If you are used to take out at any other restaurant just be wary that the way they do things here is extremely different and not exactly...

Eat there regularly; Jin & Helen are sole proprietors (no employees). Great Chinese food, service, & friendly staff. Reasonable prices & the portions are large enough; you can take leftovers home for midnight snack, tomorrow’s lunch or dinner. Once they get to know you, they’ll often come over to the table and chat. Always ask you if everything is okay. If you have an issue, good or bad, tell them, they will go out of the way to make you happy. If you travel some distance to get there, please call to make sure they’re open, they travel to visit their children & grandchildren quite often (caring parents/grandparents) & they close the restaurant for a while. Was by far the worst food I’ve ever bought, got take out and tried it for the first time didn’t look good spent around 40$ for the whole meal (beef and broccoli sweet and sour chicken two eggs rolls and a soup) the sweet and sour chicken the sauce tasted off which I can understand but the beef and broccoli was literally a soup when I opened it, thick brown flavorless gravy that resembled canned dog food, egg rolls were soggy and the soup tasted like it had been sitting out for a week.
