So, I don't usually do this, however I feel compelled to due to a few things i witnessed when i was there. Firstly, I do want to say I respect local businesses and love that they are making the community a better place. With that being said I came home from a couple overnight stays at work to spend some time with my wife at her favorite coffee shop. Im very basic, i always get a americano with hazelnut syrup or cream, never have i gone anywhere and they couldn't make this simple drink. they could not, okay no real problem i can just get half and half. Nearly 5 dollars later I sit and an 8 to 10 oz cup maybe half full is brought to the table. Maybe 5 oz with cream, that is nearly unacceptable however i will admit i have gone to Starbucks before, so my standards aren't really that high. The thing that did really upset me however was the fact that someone was counting money at a table putting it into bank envelopes, okay weird and rude just flaunting someone's wealth in front of everyone but okay can't hold them accountable for a rude customer, than I find out that was the owner............ Absolutely not, this was very unprofessional and should not ever be done. Go to your office or to the closed down part of your restaurant don't just flaunt what you have to those just trying to de-stress at what was supposed to be a calming and chill environment. You don't have to get the hazelnut, I can survive without that, just do better and be considerate of others please. Your shop has so much potential and will be a shining example of what someone can do with just a dream. Monroe is blessed to have...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm not really sure what to say but I feel compelled to say something. I didn't have a good or bad experience, not really an experience at all. I lived in New York for 2 of my 4 years of school and visited lots of coffee shops, and I was looking forward to this one because of the Gothic theme, which was similar to my favorite shop in Hell's kitchen.
Let me just say that the majority of the experience was unpleasant because of the other guests, which is no fault of the owners. WHY would you bring your screaming children to a night time coffee house? There's literally nothing for them to eat or do but make others miserable.
The second issue is not knowing what to do. It was packed and I didn't know if I could sit in the other room as there were people blocking the door so thankfully I was able to secure a small table for 2 to the side of the doors, but then people standing in line basically had their butts in my food the whole time.
But the worst part was getting the drinks finally, only to realise I waited all that time for a literal thimble full of coffee. It doesn't tell you on the sign how big they are, and moat places serve at least three different sizes, so my assumption was at least a standard 8-10 oz drink. I don't even care about price, it was just the fact that It took me about 4 swallows to wash down half of the dry tasteless bat cookie and then I was left with half of it to eat with water.
It was a nice sampling of coffee, but that's all it was to be honest, and the price for the baked goods was not something I would...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI live about 5 minutes from here and, honestly, the atmosphere, drinks and staff are from another century all together.š¦ From the dark, moody gothic decorš¤ā ļøš¶, to the outstanding and unique drinks made with locally sourced ingredients.... What more could you ask for?
I like to try to keep my money as local as possible and coming to Nocturnal does exactly that! (Honestly, I confess I probably go in there way too often... They know my favorite drink and that when I buy coffee beans, I don't need them ground because I have a grinder at home..... Like how do they remember that with how many people come thru there!?š¤Æ)
Anyway, this place keeps nearly every cent of my money local. They get their ingredients from the local dairy farm, bakery and even the coffee beans are roasted right here in Michigan. So basically every penny stays right here.
I can't even get started on how amazing all of their drinks are!! We would be be here all night if did. From the house menu to each months' speciality menu and everything in between.... Just to die for. š¤š¤
They hand craft each drink and it's truly a sight to see these awesome baristas and the care they put into making each one. āļøš¹
All in all, I am an extremely introverted person.... But this place?? Yeah, I will go there alone every day they're open!! This is probably why I have no...
