Newk's Eatery — Restaurant in Monroe

My rule about restaurant service is like baseball's rule for every at bat-- THREE STRIKES AND YOU'RE OUT!!

Today was your 3rd strike Newk's. They say the definition of insanity is repeatedly doing the same thing but expecting a different result, so maybe it's my fault. It's my fault for using your online ordering app, responsibly waiting until the ready-time the app tells me and timing my arrival to pickup my order.

Today, like the other two occasions, I waited in the store for 20 to 30 minutes past the time Newk's said my order would be ready. I used up the entirety of my lunch hour waiting for my food, and ultimately had to leave with out it even though I'd already paid for it through the app.

I got it-- Newk's was busy, but this isn't right. There are a ton of places I can eat in Monroe that value their customer's time and money. Until such time as I hear from others that Newk's has instituted some sort of meaningful change, I will spend my money elsewhere and encourage others to do the same.

BTW... that monthly catered lunch spread we used to do with you? Yeah I hear Chicken Salad Chick will do...

Pros: -The service. The staff is friendly and seem to be good at their jobs. I once placed a to go order and they gave me a free tea "while I waited" (10-15 minutes). In the time I waited for my food, not one, but two of their employees, Corey and Lewis, approached me to ensure I'd been waited on and asked if I needed anything. This kind of service would keep me coming back even if the food was lower quality. -The salads are always fresh. -The pizza is excellent. Great dough. This may be the best pizza in town. -The freebie table! I love the selection of roasted garlic, pickles, capers, croutons, cracker-style breadsticks, parmesan, etc.

Cons: -Some of their breads are too hard. It's hard to enjoy a sandwich when you can barely bite through the bread... -They don't have good lemonade, and the tea isn't impressive. Very disappointing, especially as their competition (over by Toys R Us...) has great lemonade AND tea...

Overall, if you get a pizza or a salad and drink something other than tea or lemonade, you can't...

I placed my order of a club sandwich and side mac&cheese at 6:50. I received my order at 7:15. I talked to the manager because at least 4 other families had come in after me and received their orders with very little wait. He stated that the mac&cheese had to be run through twice so that's why it took so long. He offered to redo it and I declined because my time is valuable and I didn't want to wait 25 minutes again. I asked for a tea instead. I should have just gotten a refund and let them keep the order because my sandwich AND mac&cheese were both cold! There's no way my order had just been prepared. It was too cold. I'm very disappointed with Newk’s. I feel as if I wasted $13. If I wanted a cold sandwich and mac&cheese, I could have gone to...
