TLDR: HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, OVERCOOKED FOOD. GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE
2 friends highly recommended this place so we all went there for my wife's birthday & we were all equally disappointed. First off our griddle had a massive crack in it so I was a little concerned about how safe it was. Overall there was a very dirty & dingy feel to the restaurant.
We had kids with us but they didn't care. No onion train, no open up & catch the egg, no ukulele, no interaction at all with us. They didn't say a word for my wife's birthday either after we brought it up a couple times.
All of the food at our table was over cooked except my steak that I ordered med rare. Other steaks, shrimp, chicken all overdone.
They give you a tiny portion of fried rice and they don't even tell you veggies are extra. Our friends knew from a previous visit to ask for them but we didn't so we got just a pile of rice. They didn't ask or offer. Apparently you have to ask (and pay for) double rice, which would net you a similar amount that other restaurants serve w/o charging extra
The tea had so much sugar it's hard to drink thru a straw.
And the worst was yet to come. The chef finishes cooking & cleans the griddle then leaves. Almost immediately some lady comes up with a stack of plates napkins & utensils. She begins to set up for the next party right in front of us as we start eating. Then here comes our checks & here comes to go boxes. We all had plates full of food & they made it known that we were not welcome, they wanted us to leave so they could seat another table.
Half of our full table is still seated & eating. I get up from my side to go talk to the other side and the second I step away the lady comes & takes my cup of tea leaf flavored sugar water to start clearing the table.
The ONLY thing these people cared about was getting us outta there so they could get someone else in to take their money too.
There's a similar place in Loganville but way better food, atmosphere & staff.
We will NEVER go to this...
Read moreWe Not Recommend This Restaurant We have been dining at the Conyers & Monroe establishments for many years. We can't always dine in (esp during the Covid outbreak) bc we have a medically fragile son that has had 9 open heart surgeries. He loves the California rolls! We always order those for him. We have been doing alot of take out orders recently...spending $50 or more for our large family. We used to have a good experience with take out there, but lately we have been missing food & yum yum sauce on multiple occasions. When we go back in to let them know we are missing sauces or food they tell us "no we are sorry for you, it's in the bags." However, it is most definitely not "in the bags." They tie the bags in knots at the top to prevent people from checking their orders inside. (Also our soups are usually spilled out in the bags bc the plastic tops they use break. But we don't complain about that.) Anyway, they let us know loudly & rudely last night, in front of the other patrons, that they felt we were being dishonest about 2 orders of missing California rolls. I even tried calling inside to discuss the missing items & was told "it's in the bags" & then hung up on. Very unprofessional & very rude. They didn't want to do anything to make it right. Sad. The manager was not there, go figure. We live about 20+ minutes from each restaurant so it's quite a drive to & from to get the food. We are very honest & loyal customers to this establishment & are very disappointing to be treated in such a disrespectful way considering the hundreds & hundreds of dollars we have spent over the years. We will now be searching for a different Japanese restaurant to give our $$$ to. I guess they are busy enough to not miss the repeat, loyal customers of many years that they treat poorly bc I was told last night " we have plenty customers." Good luck to those of you who order take out from Tokyo. I hope your experience is much...
Read moreSomeone recommended this place on an FB Gwinnett page as being an awesome hibachi place. My husband and I decided to head here for a date night. I read a review that stated people are social distancing. Wrong! There is way too many people coming in and to be honest I have no idea what the hype is about. The place was dirty upon entrance. The blinds were all broken around the whole restaurant as well as the vents and hibachi grill were dirty. We stayed because we were starving at 7pm. We were seated about 20 minutes later. The prices are affordable, but this is not real hibachi or the real experience. We were squeezed last at a table that had been seated before us so we received our soup and salad later than everyone. The coke was flat, they give you one napkin and one only, along with one fork. Make sure you clean your salad fork with your one napkin because you will be using your hands. We ordered sushi and were given no chop sticks or utensils. Our raw sushi was room temperature. Our plates were the smallest thing. Toddler size... My husband is hungry as we speak because we literally just left. The hostess asked us about our experience a few times I think hoping we had a great time, but respectfully told her it was not good. Each time we responded to her same question she seemed bothered by our response and would turn away. So I didn’t understand why she asked. She didn’t inquire as to what went wrong. We left bummed... the food was okay... they make the rice and your proteins separately so your rice is getting cold while you wait on your veggies or protein. People around us were eating their rice alone which dumbfounded me. I have never been to a “hibachi” like this. My only guess is this might be the only Asian restaurant in all of Monroe and this is why it’s busy? We will definitely will not be back. If you want cheap food I say go for it, but don’t...
