I am completely appalled over the experience I have received yesterday. Me (I'm white) and my friend (who's black), have completely been segregated. We were rushed, separated into a section that I'm always told is closed... I see why it's closed now its for black people, it's not actually closed. Nearing the end I went to talk to a friend that walked in and they were becoming increasingly rude and asked if we were ready to leave. Then said we'll we could pray at the register. If they came to the table they would have noticed that we needed food boxes. Which we mentioned several times before they could comprehend 'containers'. They were just trying to get us out of there. And with that we decided not to leave a tip which we typically leave $10-20 tip. They treated us badly. Segregated us. Rushed us then even asked for a tip. I didn't even want to pay it, he still paid the bill because it was the right thing to do. The food was really good at the time. Such utter disrespect and truthfully who knows what happened to our food. We even got ill 🤒 feeling shortly after and never finished the leftovers. I am never planning on going back to dennys again and truthfully it's my favorite family restaurant or was.
They have reached out to me and we will attempt to go back once more. They have apologized and trying to correct the situation. Once after I will update this review.
We have gone back and everything was much better. I still feel like those particular employees are as such. I continue to seldomly visit the location. There food is always quite good besides that one time. I just would use caution if you attend the location. And the server The Black Knight is the greatest human ever.
Also recently they have not been cooking my eggs correctly at all and I'm very specific with how I want them. Dippy eggs but with cooked egg whites. Like over medium they tell me but they are always too cooked or not enough cooked. It's not that difficult. They really need a cook for breakfast food. It's pretty...
Read moreSurprisingly good, I had always had mediocre experiences with this chain, prior to my visit. We walked in as the windows were being cleaned, and the crew doing the work were polite enough. Across the road was a gravel pile from an apparently recent demolition, making the rainy day view out the front window at our booth seem a bit dreary at first. However, the restaurant was bustling at that hour, much to our surprise. The customers were a wide array from manual workers taking a break from the cold rain to grab some chow and a cup of java, to families and couples (of all varieties) grabbing a little breakfast, before starting the day. I ordered one of the Slam breakfasts: an array of dishes designed to give a good value and a satisfying selection for the average person. Due to dietary restrictions, my request to substitute the pork options for non-pork ones was not a problem. Eggs were cooked nicely, toast was well done, and my decaf coffee was refreshing and palatable. My companion ordered the vegetable skillet, which is loaded with fresh vegetables, potatoes, and so on. Their apple juice came in a big glass, and they were very satisfied with what they got. Our server had a few customers spread around the restaurant, but we never felt neglected at all, which is perfect. Other servers were also bustling around the location with a positive energy, and the staff clearly liked working together. Although the prices were a little high for what I am accustomed to, I expect that the staff are paid a good hourly wage, in return, as their aforementioned energy was infectious. It was not a "Tchotchke's"/"37 pieces of flair" kind of energy, but a real pleasure at being there, feeling like your time was valued and you were spending your time well. No pasted-on grins, just courteous and efficient staff who care about the customer experience. Also, this place is super friendly to the queer community, and the music playing that day was `80s pop, which is a lot of fun. My friend and I felt good about...
Read moreWent in to pick up an order. There was a younger girl standing at the one counter by the register wrapping utensils in napkins. She didn't bother to ask if we needed help. There's another guy a little further down talking to what I'm assuming as a friend where it took him at least 10 minutes to pull himself away from his conversation to see what we needed. He came back and said it would be a couple minutes. That's fine. My husband and I sat on the bench DIRECTLY by the door and register still very much in view. A lady came in and it took her a bit to get acknowledged and even she complained about the wait. We continued to sit and watch at least 2 other workers walk past us. Then bam, like that a couple comes in to get seated and the girl wrapping utensils runs right over to greet them. The guys back to his conversation with his friend. Finally a guy comes out that may have been a manager comes out of the kitchen and I get up and he asks if we are waiting to check out and I told him I've been waiting for 20 mins at this point to pick up an order and haven't been acknowledged by anyone except the kid that said a couple of mins and didn't bother to provide any updates after that. He went in and low and behold, our order was done for about 10 mins. At this point I'm irritated after working a double shift and the awful service (they were NOT busy whatsoever by the way) so I grabbed everything and he said sorry for the wait in a tone that basically insinuated I was being rude and unreasonable. I work retail. It is ridiculous to walk in and be ignored by one, greeted by another after 10 mins, then ignored for another 15 mins as multiple workers walk right past us and seat people quickly as they come in, then get an attitude when you're irritated. Do better. And teach your employees proper service. Other than that, the...
