New menus. Photos updated to add.
I took off one star for the prices continually rising a while back and for the dehydrated lime slices in the margaritas. They taste terrible. The fresh lime wedges are so much better so we can squeeze it over our drink.
Now, I’m taking off another star for the terrible new chips. They are so hard I feel like I’m going to break my teeth on them and after eating just a couple my jaw hurts. They are trying to use the same chips for nachos and table dip but that just doesn’t work, the table chips need to be thin and crispy and salty to go with the salsa. The menu gets so boring after a while, really struggle to pick something to eat. Drinks are still good depending on who makes them.
Ok happy hour options for food and drinks except since they changed the menu and took tamales off - please put them back and since they’ve raised prices! The bar staff is so nice and friendly.
We used to happy hour here at minimum once a week but started going other places due to boredom with the menu, prices, and now the chips.
The La Mixta platter is a good assortment of foods that are filling but not heavy since we’re drinking. We order it with tortillas and garlic butter to eat the diablos with.
We tried the Monday night $35 fajita combo special and $5 margaritas (made half frozen and half on the rocks). The margaritas for $5 are not good. (These prices have gone up since original posting.) We were served 8 strips of chicken and 8 strips of beef, two plates of rice and beans, and one small bowl of guacamole and pico each; cheese and sour cream were extra charge, why?
The Julia platter is good!
The margarita flight and it was fantastic! The watermelon was my favorite, the mango my second favorite.
The taco salad is good but $17! I made them at home after for same money and feed 8 people.
The street tacos are terrible. Don’t get those.

Read moreCasa Julia in Mont Belvieu might just be my new go-to spot for delicious, affordable Tex-Mex fare. While it seems like this gem only opened within the last two years, everything about it feels polished and inviting. From the moment you walk in, cleanliness is evident. The entire restaurant, including the restrooms, sparkled – a huge plus in my book! The staff at Casa Julia was impressive. Despite a full house during the dinner rush, there was no wait. Our server was attentive and friendly, making sure our experience was top-notch. This level of service, especially during a busy time, speaks volumes about their dedication. But let's get to the real star of the show: the food! Everything we ordered arrived hot, fresh, and bursting with flavor. The portions were generous, and the prices were incredibly reasonable. Casa Julia proves you don't have to break the bank for a fantastic Tex-Mex meal. The only slight downside was the drink pricing. While it felt a bit higher compared to the very reasonable food prices, it wasn't enough to detract from the overall experience. This first visit to Casa Julia has definitely won me over. The combination of top-notch cleanliness, friendly service, and delicious, affordable food makes it a clear winner. I can't wait to go back and explore more...
Read moreWe were greeted by the manager and front of house staff. We were sat on the left hand side by the private room. I did enjoy the fact you can see the kitchen and the staff at this location. There is a long clear window that has except views of the kitchen, which was very very clean might I add! It took the waiter about 10 minutes to get to our table to take the drink orders and appetizer. The salsa is thick and chips were on the thick side as well, but crispy. Both very good!! The queso blanco and Chile con queso were okay. I would not order those again. They were super thick and were lacking flavor, both tasted like velveeta. Guacamole was only avocado, no cilantro, tomatoes or onion. Again, would not order that again. I got the Enchiladas Del Mar. They had a good taste but again it was lacking something. Maybe some sautéed onions or peppers. The shrimp and crawfish needed to be sautéed first as well. My husband ordered the pollo Acapulco. It’s like boiled shrimp, muscles and fajita chicken with the same queso as mine. I gave it 4 ⭐️ because the food was not bad, just not our taste. FYI I LOVE cheese! But there was just...
