Players — Restaurant in Montclair

I’ve been a regular at Players and usually enjoy the atmosphere, but after my recent experience I’m really disappointed.

On a previous visit I had trouble ordering drinks from the bartender Sil. After waiting and feeling ignored, I left and came back later around 1:15 AM. I tried to order again at about 1:20 AM but was told no because they had stopped serving early. I voiced my frustration at the time but remained respectful.

When I returned a few days later the bartender Sil informed me she would no longer serve me, clearly retaliating because I had previously spoken up about poor service. This was not only unprofessional but completely unfair. I believe customers should be treated with respect even when they offer honest feedback.

Unfortunately, after years of coming here this experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. Players needs to ensure all customers are treated fairly and that personal relationships or feelings don’t interfere with the basic expectation of good service. First off, I went on a Thursday night around 11:30, so please keep that in mind. The bar was not crowded at all and there was around 6 to 9 medium size pull tables. About a third of them were being used. The atmosphere was chill and the drinks were cheap. Standard selection of domestic and imported beers and same with the liquors. It is a nice bar located in Ontario, California. There are several pool tables, and on certain nights, they have karaoke events. The drinks are priced quite fairly, and not on the expensive side, from what I remember. The bartenders are quite friendly, and the ambiance is not hostile.
