Cardenas Market — Local services in Montclair

I was amazed at how huge this market is. It is huge, roomy, and very clean. While visiting my observations were that the workers keep very busy working, cleaning, organizing, and much more. Help is not far away. I ordered a breakfast burrito and had the full package (onions, cilantro, red salsa, beans, rice, and chorizo,...). I also had a Sprite (suggested by my server a nice woman with glasses). I forgot her name but she was helpful, courteous, friendly and fast. I saw so very much I will be back! I have gone back several times. Ordered carnitas tacos for lunch. Picking up baked goods (sweets) which there is a large fresh selection to choose from! There is a large selection of items in every section and some only found at Cardena's.

In response to the owner: Thank you! My review is honest, factual, and unbiased. When I give such a positive review it is earned. I have been to several Cardenas Markets and this one is the best! To be fair all the others are older and smaller. The employees are always good but this market was better.

Clean and well-organized store with a good variety of products that relate to Latin-American cooking. But based on my experience, don't expect much in regards to customer service in regards to locating items in the store- especially if you speak only English. Ironically, I do speak basic Spanish but I did not know the word for the herb/spice "tyme" so I asked a stock clerk who was working very close in the spice isle if he had any tyme. He seemed to not understand me so I asked "hablas ingles?" he answered no and shook his head. I guess I could have "Googled" the Spanish word for tyme but I left my phone in my vehicle. Also, prices here are significantly higher than other stores in the area. I hope this market succeeds as it has recently opened and I am sure they invested a lot of money in the development of this new location. But it seems they do not invest much in employee customer service skills and do not require certain employees speak basic English to at least be able to communicate with customers if asked. Until prices are more reasonable and when/if customer service improves, I won't be wasting my "tyme" to shop here...

It was my first time visiting this Location in MONTCLAIR. I stopped shopping at their Ontario & Pomona locations, the stores parking lots were just so dirty that it made me wonder about the hygiene of the cocina, bakery and produce areas. Also, employees seemed over worked not enough personnel and not friendly at all. This location (MONTCLAIR) is brand new. I was very impressed. Parking lot and carts are clean, store was very organized and employees very helpful and friendly. Rafa in the cocina was very accommodating and very kind. I bough shrimp ceviche and chicharrones which were very delicious. Hoping this location continues to thrive with cleanliness and good service.
