We have always had a great experience at Polly’s Pies at Montebello. Although, on our most recent visit we felt disrespected by the manager, Steve. We were a party of 10 and when we put our name down, we were never made aware of the wait. We figured it would be a little wait since we were a larger party, but it was almost an hour when we started getting impatient since there was no update on our table. Steve told the hostess to let us know our table would be ready soon since they were just cleaning the table but as we saw the table, the previous party was still seated. We still decided to wait since we had already waited so long, but were upset it had been an hour already. The rest of the visit went smoothly. Our waitress, I believe her name was Victoria, was amazing. She knew we had waited so got our drink and food order quickly. When we got the check we asked if it was possible to get some sort of discount for our wait. Steve told the waitress to tell us that he personally told us it would be a 45 minute wait and that he kept checking on us which is far from the truth. While we were waiting for the table instead of him “checking” on us he was talking with the hostess, on his phone showing her personal pictures. They were having personal conversations in front of us which we felt was very unprofessional and uncomfortable. Steve lied to his employees and our party and made our already less than average experience horrible with his disrespect. Steve rather have his employees speak for him rather than speaking directly...
Read moreThe place looked nice, and I heard great things, so I was excited to try it out for the first time. We were seated promptly, but the time between that and getting the drink order in was quite long. It was about 10 minutes or so before we flagged the waitress down to ask if we could order our drinks and food. I ordered some coffee and the biscuits and gravy with over medium eggs. My meal was described as having two biscuits, but when it arrived, it was one biscuit cut in half. The gravy looked a bit off, and after a quick examination, I noticed it was not sausage gravy but just regular gravy with cut-up sausages in it. I also noticed that my food was ice cold. The gravy had already begun to cool, and you could tell because the top layer had already partially hardened. I still attempted to eat it, but after one bite of cold food, I declined to finish the rest. I'm not one to send food back, so I drank my coffee while everyone else enjoyed their food. When the waitress stopped and asked if she could take my plate, there was a moment where you could tell she noticed that I didn't eat any of my food and she did a quick double take but didn't inquire as to why or ask if something was wrong. I paid the tab and even got some of their cookies, which were really good. Maybe this was just a bad day, so I do want to go back and give them...
Read moreCame today to grab a pie with my family and was pretty disappointed. We bought a pie and asked for a slice of a different pie, but asked if they sold slices of pie before we asked for one and the guy serving us said yes. So while waiting for our pie which took about 5-10 minutes, I heard the guy serving us talking to a female employee about not wanting to cut a new pie, so she tells him " just give him that one" and so I made them aware that I heard and proceeded to tell my wife what I heard. That lady who was talking to the guy then goes and tells something to the others workers. I can tell its about us because they look at my direction immediately. Then this other female worker approaches the counter to ask us what do we need and I say we have already been help she then returned to the other employee and continued to whispering. I been here many time during the pandemic trying to help small local business but when they make someone feel uncomfortable because I heard them taking about my food. I never said anything to them. Dont think I will be back there is great pies at Broasters Chicken just a...
