Laid back family friendly place for good fish and sake and beer. The sushi chefs are friendly even though they are slammed for a Friday night dinner rush. Rolls are priced around $8-$15. They carry uni and quail egg which is my litmus test for any sushi place. Yet this is NOT a place for sushi snobs.
This is a place that caters to its demographic and the rolls, salads and even sashimi are served in over the top plates that seem big but offer lots of fluff like lettuce and shaved radish to make the dish seem bigger than it is. The specialty rolls are over stuffed and the extra sauces do not complement the fish but mask it instead. I had a Fireman's Roll which had an awesome seared pepper tuna. The siracha, jalapeño, and spicy crab completely overwhelmed the fantastic tuna. I wouldn't have known there was tuna on it except for the fact that I picked it off and tasted it without all the sauce and filler. This unfortunately does take away from the flavor of the fish. There were literally two fist fulls of shredded radish and parsley on my sashimi plate. Not necessary. Not offensive but not necessary.
The seaweed salad has a nice portion atop a mountain of mixed greens! Not necessary.
Looking around the dining room and the average person weighed around 240 lbs.
I suspect that the presentation of the dish is aimed to please this demographic.
But I can't really trash this place. You can skip the fluff and have some really good fish. The salmon is buttery, the albacore flavorful and the tuna was smooth and very very slightly iodine flavored which is rare. It's in a strip mall so if you are trying to impress a date it may not be the best place but if you want some good fish at a reasonable price, it sure beats the two other sushi restaurants...
Read moreSakura Sushi has become a reliable go-to for my sushi cravings, and it's consistently delivered a delightful dining experience. In the world of sushi spots, where quality can be hit or miss, Sakura Sushi stands out for its unwavering commitment to freshness.
The fish is always a highlight - consistently fresh and never leaving a trace of that undesirable "fishy" taste. As someone who values the essence of good sushi, I appreciate the attention to detail in maintaining the integrity of the ingredients.
The rice, a crucial component of any sushi roll, is another standout. Always fresh and delightfully soft, it complements the flavors of the fish perfectly. The balance between rice and fish is well-executed, contributing to the overall excellence of the dishes.
The staff and service at Sakura Sushi are commendable. The team goes above and beyond to make each dining experience enjoyable. The owner, in particular, adds a personal touch with a humble and friendly demeanor, making customers feel welcomed and valued.
One noteworthy aspect that sets them apart is their tempting drink deal. The buy one drink and get a second for a dollar promotion adds a fun and economical element to the dining experience. It's a great way to enhance the overall value for patrons looking to enjoy a refreshing beverage with their meal.

Read moreWent for Father’s Day weekend and they were not prepared. When my group of 5 arrived there was only one other group (4 persons) seated and no wait to be seated. The beginning went well until a large party of 15+ arrived and the waitress, who was the only one on the floor, started running all over. Our food took some time to come out and we received one of the two appetizers AFTER all the food arrived. There were no checkups to see if we needed more water or anything else. Near the end of our meal I asked for 2 water refills which took 20 minutes, at this point there were 3 additional tables so the waitress was running around even more with the party of 15 still there. All tables were attended during those 20min and my water never came so I raised my hand and said excuse me to just get the bill and to go boxes. The waitress finally remembered my water order when she saw my hand. I asked for the bill and boxes when she left the water but this time 10min pass and nothing arrived. The table next to us then ask for their bill and voila she gets their bill within a minute. I again excused raised and reminded her we are still waiting for our bill.
My tip to you visiting this location is try not to be seated near large parties or against the back wall unless you want to be forgotten. Also if seated by the back wall you will need to talk loudly over people since the waitress does not...
